The Boeing Company is looking for a Repair Design Engineer to support BCA. This position is located in Charleston, South Carolina. The nacelle service engineering team supports service requests, customer solutions, and predictive/proactive projects for all in-service Boeing-owned Nacelle Structures. Our team is comprised of Seal Beach and Global Partner engineering teams. This position will be based in South Carolina but will align to Seal Beach, CA Customer Support management. The work schedule will be 4 days in the office, Friday hybrid schedule

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports customer service requests with development of technical dispositions, instructions, and designs for damage allowance/treatment and deviations to nacelle structures design and repairs (Inlets, Fan Cowls, Thrust Reverser/Core Cowls, and Exhausts).
  • Develops, leads, and reviews urgent (hours to days), longer-term (weeks to months), simple, moderate, and significantly complex repair schemes for metallic and composite parts including preparation of 8100-9 forms for AD-affected structure, AMOCs, and major repairs.
  • Develops creative and innovative structural repair methods, predictive/proactive projects, and improvements to existing SRMs and support documentation in support of our customers and development of Boeing Nacelle Repair methodologies.
  • Participates in current and future design/development initiatives to advocate for customer concerns/needs and improved supportability, maintainability, and reparability of nacelle structures.
  • Provide on-site engineering support. This includes, but not limited to leading development of technical solutions, development of engineering data, and acting as a principle point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Provides composite repair development expertise for Nacelle structures within a challenging thermal, vibration and aerodynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates our Customer Support and larger Boeing networks to support customer needs.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Job Requirements:
(Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (ABET required).
  • 2+ Years of experience developing structural repairs, structural repair design or propulsion/nacelle structural repairs.
  • 3+ Years of experience working aircraft production or post-production repairs or Non-Conformances

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master’s or Doctorate or Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (ABET preferred).
  • Experience in Propulsion/Nacelle structures.
  • 4+ Years of experience working aircraft production or post-production repairs or Non-Conformances
  • 2+ Years of Material Review Board/Liaison Engineer authority experience.

Typical Education/Experience:

Mid-Level 3: Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification

Senior Level 4: Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering

Summary pay range for mid-level: $90,100 – $121,900

Summary pay range for senior level: $113,050 – $152,950
