Medic - OCONUS

Purpose:

This role is responsible for providing unconventional cutting-edge Paramedic level care while assigned to an OCONUS government contract in an austere location onboard aircraft operating under FAA Part 135 flight rules. Responsible for fulfilling the mission and goals of Berry Aviation (BAI) in a professional manner and ensuring patient care and safety remain the highest priority.

Responsibilities:

• Provide critical care NREMT-Paramedic level care determined necessary for life support during Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC) aircraft missions.
• Document all patient care provided during each CASEVAC mission on standard company patient treatment forms.
• Maintain/oversee/manage and keep secure all medical equipment, medical supplies and controlled substances. Additionally, medical personnel will complete all required reports as directed by the contract and the supervising physician.
• Supervise and assist with proper loading and unloading of patients and medical equipment on and off the aircraft.
• Communicate critical patient data to aircraft crew members, ground support personnel, regional management/dispatch and supervising physician as necessary.
• Provide routine medical treatment/assessments to Berry Aviation staff in country.
• Medical personnel may assist/be trained as a Load Master crew member and perform those duties on routine flights where no medical care is being provided to a patient.
• Communicate routinely with on site management personnel on any issues with regard to safety of flight, medical equipment/supplies maintenance status, flight crew status, operational communication issues, customer concerns or personnel issues.
• Performs extrication with appropriate tools in order to gain access to personnel confined in aircraft or vehicles.

Experience Requirements:

• Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) and/or Advanced Tactical Paramedic (ATP)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Life Support (PALS)
• Trauma certification (PHTLS, TCCC, ATLS, TNCC, TNATC)
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security clearance at the Secret level (U.S. citizenship required)
• 3 years of experience in providing emergency medical care as an EMT or Paramedic
• High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

• 1 year of experience in OCONUS austere environments/locations as a medic working for a government contractor
• 3 years of experience in providing emergency medical care as an EMT or Paramedic in an aviation environment
• Flight Paramedic Certification / FP-C
• Experience as a Special Operations Medic
• Experience in aerial delivery
• Experience using NVG in an aviation environment
• Holds a current and active U.S. Security clearance at the Secret level (U.S. citizenship required)
• Undergraduate degree
