Pacific Coastal Airlines has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Specialist, Corporate Quality Assurance to join our dynamic and rewarding team! This position is based out of the South Terminal building at the Vancouver International Airport in Richmond, BC.

Pacific Coastal Airlines is headquartered at the South Terminal building at Vancouver International Airport. We fly scheduled and charter service between busy international airports, remote destinations, and beautiful communities in the provinces of British Columbia and South Alberta.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Quality Assurance, the Specialist, Corporate Quality Assurance will be responsible for providing direction, support, and guidance to management and employees on all matters related to Corporate Quality Assurance including Flight Operations, Cabin Safety, Cargo, Security, Airports, and Ground. The Specialist, Corporate Quality Assurance will establish and maintain processes and programs to ensure independent evaluations and analysis of all functions defined within the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and the CARs to determine the degree of adherence to specific criteria and to evaluate the effectiveness of its business processes in the spirit of continued improvement. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain an audit system and schedule
  • Establish and maintain provisions for sampling of business processes to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and company requirements
  • Conduct audits of all functions and elements necessary to confirm that the air operator complies with the applicable regulations and the appropriate approved manuals
  • Maintain audit checklists for all functions controlled by the approved manuals, where having regard to the size and complexity of the air operator’s activities, checklists will be sufficiently detailed to verify compliance with regulations and standards
  • Conduct activities associated with audit preparation and planning, audit performance, audit reporting, and audit follow-up and closure in accordance with the procedures
  • Facilitate root cause analysis sessions to develop effective corrective action plans
  • Assign Safety Management Systems investigations, follow up on completion, and quality checking corrective actions, Risk Assessments and Hazard Registry
  • Maintain the company hazard register
  • Other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent level of education and experience
  • Professional designation in Quality or Safety Management would be considered an asset
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in the aviation industry, preferably in one of the following functional areas: Flight Operations, Airport Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, or an equivalent level of experience and education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Safety Management Systems (SMS) for aviation organizations
  • Experience conducting audits in aviation operations
  • Understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Effective communication with customers, authorities, and agencies both written and verbal
  • Proficient with computer programs such as (Web, Microsoft Suite, and SharePoint)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and auditing techniques
  • Excellent at multi-tasking, planning, problem-solving, and staying organized
  • Experience in training development and presentation
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Ability to obtain and maintain designated security clearance
  • Ability to travel on occasion
