Overview of role:
WestJet is seeking a Specialist, Digital Integrations reporting to our Managed Trips team. This individual can demonstrate a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.
The Specialist, Digital Integrations will be a core member of the scoping, estimation, and triage Pod. As part of the scoping team the specialist will be providing estimation and scoping for any business requests or projects requiring integration and technology expertise. Additionally, this position will balance both a strategic mindset to grow optimization maturity within the Managed Trips team, while contributing to the scoping and triage team.
Key deliverables include:

Participates as the industry and Digital technology integration specialist in the Scoping/Estimation Pod with a focus on Managed Trips flows. This role will support project and initiative estimations (for Business Unit initiatives, PMO, Digital Technology Board, and executive requests) for level of effort and identify integration technology solutions and the impacted downstream systems and data

Actively participates as a technology expert in our Digital product delivery team when not performing the scoping, triaging, estimation duties. This role will also participate in POC, and development activities to help the teams prove out their solutions rapidly (while still considering standards, security, and resiliency)

Collaborates with various Product, Digital and IT leaders to ensure the technology integrations, platforms and patterns are set up to support WestJets long-term strategy

Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements, and influences system design based on these requirements. Leads technical decision making and design and integrate in-house and vendor technologies to achieve high scale and reliability

Leads and oversees the Digital integration technology solutions. Collaborates with the IT Architecture, Cyber Security, and IT Integration (Middleware)

Actively participates as a technology expert in our Digital product delivery team when not performing the scoping, triaging, estimation duties. Support triaging escalated issues/outages/complex problems in Digital Integrations with a focus on Managed Trips flows to accelerate resolution and focus on continuous improvement and prevention of repeating issues in this area
Experience and qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent
-
12+ years’ experience in software development with a focus on integrations
-
2+ years’ experience working with airline integrations such as Sabre or Amadeus or similar

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
-
Excellent planning and organizational skills
-
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Expert in Java web frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boots, Web Flux and Reactor
-
Expert in object-oriented software design, design patterns, security awareness and development best practices
-
Knowledge of Managed Trips flows an asset
