What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney Connecticut Operations is looking for a highly motivated individual seeking the opportunity to become part of a team that manages a diverse set of environmental regulatory requirements at two large aerospace manufacturing facilities.  This position will interact with senior executives, mid-level management, project managers, and hourly and salary associates on the shop floor.  This position requires an interactive cross functional teammate to support all environmental medias to ensure the company achieves its Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) goals.

Responsibilities: 

  • Managing an environmental air compliance program and associated procedures necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and Corporate/RTX Pratt & Whitney goals. 
  • Develop and manage compliance strategies to minimize and mistake proof regulatory compliance risks including onsite visual inspections.  
  • Prepare P&W regulatory reports for submittal to various regulatory government agencies including recordkeeping and monitoring confirmation prior to certifying compliance. 
  • Manage and oversee permit-related activities such as initial applications, modifications, renewals and renovation.
  • Provide hands-on, in-person guidance and support including senior leadership and module center (shop floor) management regarding facility modification activities and projects. 
  • Shop floor support also includes interaction with coating booth operators and supervisors, powerhouse operations, and Facilities & Services maintenance departments.
  • Provide in-person facility EH&S program support to address or prevent conditions that may adversely impact the environment and to ensure prompt communication and resolution of potential hazards to management.
  • Periodically being on call 24 hours a day to respond to spills and / or environmental incidents at the Connecticut Operation facilities.
  • Willing to assist P&W facilities domestically and globally in support of EH&S compliance obligations including company and site-specific environmental goals.  Estimated travel (domestic and internationally) approximately 5-10 of the time.

Applicants are encouraged to be familiar with the following government programs and regulations:

  • EPA Title V / NSR Air Permitting
  • Connecticut Air Regulations & Permitting
  • Various EPA NESHAP & NSPS rules regulating aerospace manufacturing including coating operations, fuel burning sources (emergency engines, boilers, co-generation turbines, test cells) & remediation activities

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and candidates shall have 4+ years of work experience, preferably in the field of environmental compliance.  
  • Candidates must be proficient in writing, analytical, and the use of Microsoft Office software applications.  
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide high-level customer service will be required in this position.  
  • Candidates shall be able to work independently on projects and to participate on multiple teams.  
  • Knowledge of environmental regulatory programs is essential.
  • Knowledge of safety compliance programs and EHS Management Systems is highly preferred
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
