As a Human Resources Generalist, youll have the opportunity to work with one of the largest independent aviation service businesses in the world. StandardAero provides comprehensive services to commercial, military, business aviation, helicopters and industrial operators. The company has almost 7,000 employees working out of facilities strategically located in the U.S., Canada and internationally and serving customers from over 80 different countries. This position supports the Business Aviation sector within our Van Nuys facility.
What youll do:
- As a member of the Human Resources team, you will report to the Manager of Human Resources in Van Nuys, CA.
- HR Generalist will support a client group of over 120 non-union employees and leaders located in Van Nuys, CA and Opa Locka, Florida. In addition, will collaborate with the Human Resources StandardAero corporate enterprise.
- Support client group and take appropriate action to address and resolve employee issues and manage HR Generalist activities, to include staffing, learning and development, performance management, reward/recognition and answering employee payroll and benefits questions.
- Responsible for compliance communication and legal posting requirements on-site.
- Manage employee uniforms and locker distribution process on-site.
- Assist with employee engagement activities, events, conducting employee satisfaction surveys, and data collection.
- Ensures the consistent and equitable application of organization policies and procedures.
- Confidentially guides staff and managers through a process of developing answers, solutions, and/or strategies to deal fairly, legally and effectively with people-related matters.
- Advises managers on policies and procedures to assure adherence to company policies for initiating appraisal, disciplinary and staffing decisions.
- Guides management & employees through the off-boarding process. Schedule meetings with employee and prepare off-boarding documents.
- Communicate pre-employment and conduct orientation presentation for new hires.
- Schedule on-line training for new technicians using on-line training system.
- Calculate hours, computing and deducting statutory and company required amounts (employment insurance, income tax, benefit premiums, pension contributions and other payroll deductions) using a computerized payroll system. Also calculates special adjustments, including bonus, advances, garnishing orders, retro pay, etc.
- Responsible for all accounting procedures, including remittances. Balances and allocates payroll expenses and payables to appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Provides, verifies, and balances labor distribution information between mainframe, payroll, and finance systems to ensure accurate reporting and posting to the general ledger.
- Partner with ERP Information Technology, Finance, Payroll, and Compliance on payroll policies, computation of pay, I-9 employment verification, interpretation of policy, payroll audits, statutory requirements and changes to the payroll system.
- Responsible for reporting and communicating non-production and production hours to Leads for review.
- Maintains records of attendance and vacation entitlement, including updating employee histories of leave taken, monitoring leave accruals and balances, preparing and distributing reports to department managers and employees, calculating company-wide absence rate, and determination of vacation balances at termination of employment.
- Ensures compliance with all company and Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Interprets and keeps updated on the Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol regulations covering Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Interprets and administers leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.)
- Reviews and approves random schedules developed by drug and alcohol support and makes adjustments as required.
- Develops monthly logs and ensures that all signoffs, chain of custody forms, and testing documentation is secured and maintained in accordance with federal regulations and department procedures.
- Responsible for general administration records administration of confidential and highly sensitive information.
- Work closely with StandardAero and 3rd party administrator to conduct pre-employment background screenings and drug testing.
- Responsibility for drafting, issuing and tracking all relevant testing documents and onboarding materials.
- Provide advice, counsel and support for benefits, compliance programs and HR Information Systems to client group.
- Develop and maintain community/academic relationships to increase exposure/awareness of the StandardAero brand.
- Drive employee training funding initiatives through the state of California.
- Conduct quarterly HR Audits and identifying areas of legal risk, using industry and StandardAero best practices.
- Manage employee verification for Department of Transportation (DOT) inquires
- Update Organization Chart and Emergency contact list based on staff changes.
- Order company marketing merchandise for employees as needed.
- Assist talent acquisition with recruiting events and hiring efforts to attract top talent and for retention purposes.
Position Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Min. of 2 years of experience working in Human Resources.
- Bachelors degree in a field related to Human Resources highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and positively influence others.
- Strong integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information.
- Professionalism and diplomacy with all levels of the organization.
- Presentation skills and comfort in front of larger groups.
- Advanced follow-through, planning, and organizational skills.
- Sound reasoning, analysis, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrate proactive steps and creativity towards problem solving and process improvement.
- Proficient communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated success in staffing (recruitment); experience with an ATS required. Oracle preferred.
- Experience dealing with non-union employee relations matters; preference for candidates who demonstrate experience with maintaining positive employee relations.
- Experience with compensation analysis, benefits and payroll, leadership coaching and change management.
- Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulatory environments.
- Skilled in Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- PHR or SPHR certifications desired

Salary: $37-42 per hour, based on experience
