This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, inclusive team aimed at shaping the future of HR at StandardAero. Reporting directly to the Senior Human Resources Manager, the successful candidate will provide full lifecycle HR support to Business Unit leaders at the Manager level and below. The position will work closely with other key groups in the Human Resources organization including Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Talent Management, Compensation, HRIS, Payroll & Benefits to deliver high quality, seamlessly integrated operational HR support for the business, the employees and managers. The majority of support to the business will be on site with our leaders and teams.

The successful candidate will also be a member of the Winnipeg site HR Team focused on consistent policy application and employee engagement across the Winnipeg campus comprised of 1,300 plus employees.

This position requires well-rounded knowledge as an HR Generalist, familiar with every discipline within HR to formulate workforce strategies that meet organizational goals and develop solutions.

What you’ll do:

  • Advises and supports managers in employee selection and onboarding.
  • Advises and supports managers in employee development, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Advises and supports managers in creating a “best to work for” culture and driving employee engagement.
  • Ensures compensation plans and reward and recognition programs are equitable and in line with the organization’s goals and total rewards philosophy.
  • Provides support and guidance to employees around policies, procedures, benefits, payroll and processes. 
  • Administers policies and procedures for employment, placement, termination and transfer of employees.
  • Ensures consistent and equitable application of organization policies and procedures. Including assisting on the interpretation and education on HR policies, and provides counseling on such policies as necessary with both leaders and employees
  • Takes appropriate actions to address and resolve employee relations issues, including investigations.
  • Work with the business unit to deliver and facilitate developmental opportunities for client groups, which may include performance management, succession/workforce planning, compensation/benefits, organization/team development, and change management.
  • Monitor employee climate to identify issues/trends and develop recommendations for problem solving with business units, as appropriate. Develop solutions to implement with the business.
  • Manage specific projects as determined by the HR Senior Leadership Team and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices, continued business acumen and key trends.
  • Assist with the delivery of HR programs, processes and projects including site wide and corporate initiatives 
  • Complies with all existing government, labor and legal reporting requirements to minimize company exposure to lawsuits and manages sensitive and confidential information

What skills you will require:   

  • Bachelors degree in a field related to Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in Human Resources, preferably in a HR Generalist role.
  • Experience in deploying and administering HR programs, policies, practices and processes.
  • Experience in influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders and leaders across functions
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Advanced planning/organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills including being comfortable in front of large groups
  • Strong integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information.
  • Sound reasoning, analysis, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply creativity toward problem solving and process improvement.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Canada Labour Code. 
  • Experience dealing with non-union employee relations matters; preference for candidates who demonstrate experience with maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with common office tools such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and previous experience working with HRIS systems. 

**Candidates must legally be able to work in Canada.

  • CPHR certified or CPHR Candidate or working towards same.
