De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is currently searching for a Hydromechanical System Specialist to join the in-service engineering & technical support team. Working as part of a customer-facing team, this position is responsible for providing technical expertise on specific aircraft systems. Supporting our fleet with solutions for in-service issues related to overall product safety, reliability, and maintainability of the aircraft.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for regular monitoring and analysis of fleet data at the fleet level, operator level, DR level, and IR.
- Provide recommendations and develop corrective actions to manage diverting trends.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the released modifications.
- Conduct, coordinate, and report on redesign investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions for fleet issues that may lead to procedural and/or product changes.
- Represent operator perspectives during internal meetings and project development.
- Provide deliverables such as In-Service Modsums, All Operator Messages, Service Letters, Concession Support Letters, Reference Instruction Letters, In Service Activity Reports and other fleet communications.
- Provide system-specific knowledge for reports and communication packages for customer meetings, regional reviews, conferences, working groups, and other initiatives.
- Develop and deliver system-specific training to operators and internal focal points.
- Manage detailed/complex technical requests to meet committed turnaround times and customer requirements.
- Provide on-site assistance at operators’ facilities as required.
- Maintain support for continuing airworthiness requirements for all fleet types through data collection and reporting, SDR/incident investigation, and management.
- Provide in-service fleet representation to CARB, triage, and upcoming safety projects.
- Work with suppliers and internal groups to develop and manage project schedules to achieve customer commitment.
- Provide on-site assistance at operators’ facilities as required.
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering: Aerospace or AME license.
- Strong working knowledge of aircraft systems, with a particular interest in and understanding of aircraft systems, is an asset.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in aviation manufacturing, vendor or airline maintenance, and the airline environment.
- Customer Service, strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with the De Havilland aircraft family is an asset.
- Proficient in PC use, MS Office, applications, and database tools.
- The ability to perform basic charts and data management in Excel is desired.
- Occasional short notice travel assignments and the ability to work on a rotational on-call schedule to support a 24/7/365 operation.
Skills
- Advanced MS Office skills, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong working knowledge of aircraft systems, avionics, and structures means you can “think on your feet” in an extremely fast-paced environment.
- You are able to travel internationally on short notice, and you are very flexible in terms of working hours to support a 24/7/365-day operation.
- Able to demonstrate exceptional ability to deal effectively with customers in somewhat stressful circumstances.
- Exceptional organizational and presentation abilities.
- Dynamic oral and written communicator with strong people skills.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential The customer support experience is a definite asset.
