Job Description SummaryThe Maintainability Specialist is responsible for contributing to the design and development of new products for military customers by working directly with design and systems engineers, in addition to the customer.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and direction to the hardware owners on how to reduce down-time and cost with maintenance friendly designs while using standard tools and methods.
  • Create comprehensive program plans to chart the execution of maintainability objectives for assigned program(s).
  • Accomplish maintainability analysis including tool access and hardware removal path models, maintenance task analysis, maintainability demonstrations, and keep out zones.
  • Collaborate with customers, program leadership and design engineers to ensure program requirements for Maintainability are clearly defined and executed.
  • Contribute to strategy and policy development for Maintainability at GE Aviation.
  • Perform periodic design reviews (CDR, PDR, DDR) of the product.
  • Participate in the identification and development of support equipment.
  • Develop and execute customer deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintainability engineering or a closely related field such as product support, field service, technical publications, reliability, or systems engineering.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain a Government Security Clearance.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Gas turbine engine experience
  • Prior military engine maintenance/mechanical experience.
  • Prior commercial engine maintenance/mechanical experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with diverse types of turbine engine maintenance.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense acquisition programs.
  • Working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter Visualization Mockup software.
  • Proven facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Motivated, Initiative-taking, enthusiastic, exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, document, and execute programs using established project management skills.
  • Master’s degree.
