Introduction

The Boeing P-8 Poseidon is a military aircraft developed by Boeing Defence, built on a modified design of the 737-800ERX. The platform was initially developed for the US Navy, first flown in 2009 and introduced in 2013.

In 2019, the UK Ministry of Defence received the first of a fleet of nine P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol (MPA). The Aircraft is fitted with equipment to tackle a diverse range of missions, including protecting submarines and reconnaissance missions.

Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) has been supporting the UK fleet as the exclusive Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO) since its introduction into service. BDUK will continue to support the UK customer at RAF Lossiemouth under our support contract with the UK MOD and also support our international customers as they enter their own fleets into service in the coming years.

As part of our continued growth supporting our customers both domestically and internationally, we are now looking for highly skilled aircraft maintenance professionals to join the team in 2024 to support the UK Poseidon MRA Mk1 and also international P8 customers across the globe.

This position is for a Fixed Wing Operations Support Specialist to support Boeing Defence UK’s Maintenance and Modification capabilities at Lossiemouth and across multiple sites and aircraft types in the UK, and continued growth in these areas. This is a full-time role based at Lossiemouth with travel to other sites as required.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Working with the BDUK Operations and Programme teams to develop innovative aircraft Maintenance Repair Organisations (MRO) solutions and support the development of BDUK operations functions proposals for future platform capability.
  • Working with SMEs / focals for each aircraft platform.
  • Fixed Wing new capability and future enhancements for aircraft.
  • Working directly to Operations Senior Business Manager and Partnering with Onsite Leadership Team , the Maintenance Operations Support Specialist will play a key role to mobilize projects to support the teams delivering aircraft maintenance services in execution.

With a background in aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) the Maintenance Operations Support Specialist will have a wealth of knowledge and experience in MRO processes, techniques and best practice.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Previous experience of working across MRO functions such as shop floor maintenance/production, technical planning, production planning, production control, technical services with experience of the SAP or GOLD MRO ERP system’s the Maintenance Operations Support

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Ability to interact with senior military and company officials
  • Ability to work independently under time constraints and pressure
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Possess detailed knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures
  • Proficiency working in a multi-disciplined environment
  • Proficient in Quality Management system.

Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.

Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance requiring 5 years continuous residency in the UK.

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
