Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

Are you ready to play a crucial role in shaping the future of aviation? Joby is seeking a Production Training Specialist to champion and elevate our aircraft manufacturing training programs. As a driving force behind standardizing, documenting, and supporting training activities across multiple manufacturing shops, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our teams are equipped with the skills and knowledge to build the future of air transportation.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that training content, processes, and procedures are in compliance with published training standards
  • Establish, implement, and manage training technology and record-keeping systems
  • Coordinate the development of training curricula based on existing work instructions, SOPs, and training content
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including subject matter experts, engineers, and production leaders, to incorporate practical, hands-on experiences into training programs.
  • Ensure that technicians and inspectors are current and compliant with training requirements
  • Support the administration and delivery of the train-the-trainer program, assessing for effectiveness and proper application
  • Coordinate and monitor enrollment, schedules, costs, and equipment for technician and quality inspector training
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations to address evolving industry requirements and feedback from trainees.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver area-specific core knowledge and general skills training
  • Support the design and delivery of production-specific onboarding and new-hire training
  • Support the development of engaging instructional materials to be delivered both online and in person
Required
  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience executing against and/or developing manufacturing work instructions (MWIs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and/or other technical documentation
  • Strong instructional and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and in an engaging manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and guide individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill levels
  • Effective organizational skills to manage training schedules, materials, records, and documentation
  • Experience managing successful projects from inception to completion
Desired
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Training, Instructional Design, or a related field
  • Experience designing, implementing, enhancing, and/or delivering training programs in a manufacturing, production, or similar environment
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and/or other training software
  • Experience as a technical writer
  • Experience designing standardized training systems
  • Experience in aerospace, composites, or electronics manufacturing

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $82,700 - $139,100/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
