PRIMARY FUNCTION

The position of Publications Development Specialist I provides direct support of the Logistics Engineering department by developing, reviewing, and providing feedback on technical content for technical publications including instruction manuals, procedural information, illustrations, and all other source documentation required to effectively communicate complex technical information into reproducible technical publications. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•    Adequately develop draft technical content for various technical publications using provided materials.
•    Maintain records of all publication changes and source documentation.
•    Develop new or edit existing source illustrations into technical illustrations for use in applicable technical publications with limited assistance.
•    Basic knowledge and understanding of all regulations, policies, and processes used in the performance of assigned duties.
•    Effectively communicate needs and requirements to senior developers and supervisors when executing assigned tasks.
•    Participate in meetings/conferences as needed to provide input or address comments/concerns.
•    Prepare visual aids such as charts, graphs, forms, etc. to accompany technical documentation.
•    Other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks. 



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

•    Basic knowledge of MIL-PRF-63002, MIL-PRF-63029, MIL-STD-40051, MIL-HDBK-1222, and MIL-STD-2361 standards. 
•    Possess fundamental computer skills, specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Extensible Markup Language (XML).
•    Adequately utilize digital software such as Technical Illustrator and Corel Designer to create technical illustrations.
•    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
•    Capacity to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
•    Aptitude to interpret and convey processes and procedures to supervisors and co-workers.
•    Possess customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service, and follow-up. 
•    Ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas.
•    Clear decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw basic conclusions and justify decisions. 
•    Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Yulista Services, LLC goals.
•    Ability to multi-task efficiently.


Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: 

•    HS Diploma and enrolled in a 4-year course study leading up to a BA/BS degree with at least 3 years of task related experience.
•    Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office applications.
•    Ability to obtain and maintain a government secret security clearance.
•    Aviation maintenance experience on rotary and/or fixed wing platforms preferred.
•    Knowledgeable in the use of XML development/editing software.
•    Experience with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) development.
