Job overview and responsibilities

The Digital Fleet Management (DFM) team plays a vital role in improving the on-time and completion performance of United’s network by turning unexpected aircraft system failures into scheduled maintenance. The Senior Analyst of Aircraft Data Management supports DFM, Aircraft Health Monitoring, Engineering and Analytics teams by serving as an aircraft data acquisition and performance analysis expert. The Senior Analyst supports scoping of aircraft software modifications to acquire sensor and performance data in real-time and post-flight for predictive maintenance and health monitoring purposes, partnering with engineering teams to implement software changes as necessary. They also support creating tools and implementing processes for the ongoing monitoring of data and system health of Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS), Quick Access Recorder (QAR/DAR) and other e-Enabled system data for airline operational use (including monitoring of ground data transmission and processing systems).

  • Manage the development and scoping of aircraft software modifications to support United’s health monitoring and predictive maintenance initiatives
  • Perform analyses of aircraft data acquisition system performance to improve data capture and transmission reliability
  • Support the day-to-day implementation of the Integrated Asset Health Monitoring (IAHM) process by working with Engineering and DFM stakeholders to ensure critical alerts have the proper performance monitoring
  • Partner with Data Science, Digital Technology and Product Management teams to create, test and operationalize data and system health monitoring capabilities for ACMS, QAR/DAR and other e-Enabled systems
  • Support operational teams responsible for ongoing monitoring of predictive alerts and ensuring maintenance action is taken in advance of operational issues
  • Act as a liaison to frontline teams as required to ensure successful execution of proactive maintenance

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a business, engineering or data driven role
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering principles, root cause analysis or statistics-based reliability
  • Ability to tell a story with data, develop strong data visualizations and present complex concepts and recommendations backed by data
  • Ability to define and track Key Performance Indicators to track system or process performance
  • Ability to write, debug and troubleshoot software code
  • Self-starter with the ability to think outside the box to evaluate complex problems and recommend solutions
  • Proven organization skills with ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners
  • Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Engineering, Computer Science, MBA or a related field
  • Airline experience or operations experience in a similar industry
  • Experience working with aircraft, engine, ground equipment or other asset sensor and fault data
  • Familiarity with modern data analytics concepts that include machine learning, statistical programming, data visualization, etc.
  • Familiarization with preventive maintenance and reliability concepts and implementation
  • Knowledge and understanding of asset/fleet management strategies and maintenance operations
  • Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical system design in aviation, automotive or similar industries
  • Knowledge of aviation CFR regulations
  • Proven skills with Python, R or other programming language
  • Knowledge of common system analysis or fault tree analysis strategies
