Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Global Benefits, this position will manage all functions associated with the administration of the employee benefit programs and leave management for employees of all U.S. locations of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings. Responsibilities will include providing critical analysis and evaluation to support benefits initiatives and business goals

Responsibilities
  • Administer leaves of absence in partnership with the Company’s third-party administrator with demonstrated knowledge in FMLA, PFL, ADA, STD, LTD, PTO, Personal, Parental Leaves and workers’ compensation. Serve as liaison between union representatives, employee, leave administrator, payroll and HRIS as needed.
  • Serves as day-to-day contact and Company representative for the third-party leave and disability administrator; this includes maintaining reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate a smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason.
  • Supports the administration of the 401(k) Retirement Savings Plans, including, but not limited to, funding of the 401(k) plan, performing Non-Discrimination testing and assisting with the 5500 Filing.
  • Primary contact for maintaining and administering benefits programs in partnership with benefits vendors (carriers, brokers, etc.) for the purpose of researching, troubleshooting, and resolving escalations for the 401k and Leave of Absence inquiries.
  • Conducts indicative data audits on a regular basis and is responsible for partnering with the third-party 401(k) administrator on data and payroll corrections.
  • Thorough understanding of Atlas Benefits program to respond to general Benefits questions, conduct New Hire Orientation and provide guidance on Benefits enrollment.
  • Responsible for communicating benefits enrollment process to newly benefits eligible employees and assist with internal communications that engage and educate employees on benefits on an ongoing and consistent basis throughout the year.
  • Ensure compliance with both Federal and State laws including COBRA, HIPAA, Family Medical Leave Act, Affordable Care Act and Disability Insurance.
  • Thorough understanding of the terms of the union contracts as at it relates to benefits.
  • Audit and reconcile benefits vendor billing invoices and manager vendor payment. Work with Finance to resolve accrual and billing issues.
  • Recommend and implement ways to streamline procedures in an effort to achieve continuous improvement. Develop benefit processes and procedure maps.
  • Ensures HR materials are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and legislation. Works with the Global Benefits Director and the H&W Manager to interpret relevant Benefits and employment laws and regulations for the department with the assistance of Legal, as needed.
  • Assist the Global Benefits Director and H&W Manager with special projects, for instance, successful implementation of a 401(k)-plan merger, including the ability to provide data through Excel expertise.
  • Work on any other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in U.S. employee benefits administration and operations; knowledge for international locations a plus.
  • Experience with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA and related state and federal regulations.
  • Technical proficiency with HR information systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously, while recognizing team-oriented goals.
  • Ability to identify workplace issues and make sound recommendations for solutions.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Ability to travel three to four times a year.

Preferred Qualification:

  • BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field or comparable experience.
  • Experience working in a strong customer focused environment within health and welfare, wellness and work life balance, and retirement plan administration.
  • Experience working with Dayforce and Fidelity PSW.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with unions a plus.

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of metrics and data, identifying appropriate metrics to assess initiatives.

  • Seek appropriate support to solve problems.
  • Actively contribute to the creation and evaluation of possible solutions.

  • Effectively apply knowledge of all relevant Benefits concepts to required job tasks.

Salary Range: $59,000 - $79,500

Financial offer within the stated range is based on the primary location of the candidate and is contingent on the qualification of selected candidates.
