Role Summary

The Senior Commercial Strategy Analyst is a subject matter expert in shaping high-impact commercial and product strategies to drive success in the competitive airline industry for Alaska Air Group (AAG). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to analyze market trends, identify revenue opportunities, and conduct in-depth market research and provide recommendations that lead to strategic recommendations and the successful implementation of product initiatives.

Key Duties

  • Apply deep knowledge in market analysis to identify/size opportunities, competitor trends, and customer preferences that lead to insights that support strategic decision making.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in competitive intelligence, track and analyze competitors, report findings, provide insights and assess potential impact.

  • Influence cross-functional teams to drive revenue optimization activities including pricing and product, and service offerings.

  • Utilize advanced analytics and data modeling to analyze large datasets, extract meaningful insights and develop actionable recommendations.

  • Influence cross-functionally and build relationships with internal teams such as finance, marketing, ecommerce, network and revenue management to foster collaboration and cohesive approaches to strategic questions and commercial objectives.

  • Identify and explore innovative opportunities for revenue generation and cost optimization within the industry.

  • Effectively communicate complex analysis complex analyses and strategic recommendations to stakeholders, providing regular reports on key performance metrics and market trends.

  • Create business cases and/or decision analysis to support proposed strategies, outlining key assumptions, financial projections, and potential risks.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 4 years of experience in business analytics, consumer insights, competitive intelligence, strategy, economics, or related area.

  • Bachelors degree, or an additional 2 years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company.

  • Skilled in presenting and storytelling data-driven strategic insights, including use of visualization tools (Tableau).

  • Employs a strong understanding of revenue products, as well as product merchandising and optimization strategies.

  • Proven track record of applying insights to business strategy.

  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with other teams, valuing diversity and inclusivity.

  • Experience in the airline industry.

  • Strong understanding of strategy development and drawing insights and implications from competitor moves.

Salary Range

$110,900 - $166,300 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
