Job SummaryThe role of the Senior Solution Quality Assurance Analyst within the DAATS (Digital Aerodrome Air Traffic Services) program is to provide expert level guidance to identify and monitor technical and non-technical validation initiatives to support the successful implementation of the DAATS solution. Participates in creating clear validation objectives and processes that are aligned to the strategic plan and ensures that all validation activities are planned and executed within the allocated time and budget; and identifies the necessary gates and evidence that is required to support decision making by senior leadership and compliance to internal and external audits. Provides guidance, mentoring and coaching and training to cross functional project teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure consistency in the implementation of validation initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provides expert level guidance in implementing the validation processes and procedures as per the DAATS validation strategy.

  • Reviews test plans and scripts, test results, test reports and all other validation related documentation.

  • Work with members of the DAATS team to ensure that validation activities are planned and conducted following established NAV CANADA policies and processes.

  • Reports the progress of all technical and non-technical validation activities against established exit criteria to support recommendations at various gates (e.g., Go/No Go decision points).

  • Provides leadership for the assessment of the work and determines the overall ‘Organizational Readiness’ level by considering validation results, residual risks, and outstanding issues from technical, operational, and business aspects.

  • Represent NAV CANADA at meetings with the technology vendor such as defect triage meetings, Test Readiness Review meetings, and Test Exit Review meetings.

  • Provides guidance to define the overall concept to establish test environments to support all validation activities.

  • Provides guidance to establish standardized defect management and test management processes using appropriate tooling for the DAATS program.

  • Provides guidance to create suitable training material and provide training to teams on topics related to validation.

  • Provide support to gather the necessary evidence to help create the safety case to obtain regulatory concurrence.

  • Provides advise and recommendations to drive continuous improvement activities to bring further efficiencies and effectiveness to validation processes, testing activities and tooling.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Graduated from a recognized university or college with a degree in computer science or engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience with validation of complex real-time systems.

  • Experience in facilitation, negotiation, and building collaborative relationships across various departments and stakeholders.

  • Experience investigating, analyzing, and resolving complex problems.

  • Experience in providing guidance to teams to plan and execute validation activities to successful completion.

Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of testing/validation principles and standards and how to apply them to small to large-scale and complex projects.

  • Thorough knowledge of software development and configuration management processes, practices, tools, and techniques. 

  • Thorough knowledge of industry trends, developments and business policies, processes, workflows, and systems in functional area of specialization.

  • General knowledge of contract/procurement processes.

  • General knowledge of project management processes and procedures.

Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers, internal stakeholders, vendors, and consultants to ensure a successful completion of all validation activities.

  • Ability to write clear, cohesive, and concise documentation that is easily understandable by colleagues, management, and stakeholders.

  • Ability to assist manager with team leadership, monitoring completion, and reporting status of work. 

Personal Suitability:

  • Skills to work independently as well as with the rest of the team.

  • Team player who can engage with diverse roles such as Human Factors specialists, PRIs, operational staff, system engineers, system safety specialists, technical services staff, etc.

  • Communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical staff and management.

  • Leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills.

Working conditions:

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Hybrid: This position is based at the Ottawa ANS, and requires an on-site presence a minimum 3 days per week.
