Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Operations, the Production Planner is responsible to work closely with internal and external customers, perform advanced MRP activities to meet customer requirements and ensure product delivery. This role is in-office, and reports to our Bedford, NS facility who participate in a compressed work week 9/80 schedule.

As a Production Planner, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Interface “start to completion” in planning the transition from receipt of customer order to production to shipment
  • Responsible for developing and implementing MRP to ensure on time delivery to customers
  • Raise, release and maintain work orders based on the Master Production Schedule
  • Plan and monitor work orders on the production floor
  • Consolidate demand for purchase requisitions 
  • Create purchase requisitions based on the Master Production Schedule
  • Re-plan activities as a result of schedule/material changes
  • Maintain the integrity of data in the MRP system
  • Maintain manufacturing build plans on a daily basis
  • Track material from requisition to receipt of goods, highlight critical parts/issues, prepare material status reports
  • Coordinate configuration changes with purchasing and production
  • Support turnaround of Non-Compliance Reports in a timely manner
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned
What you require to be successful in the role:
  • Completed Business Administration or Supply Chain and Operations Management program at a recognized post-secondary institution.  
  • Planning experience of 5+ years in a manufacturing environment 
  • Thorough knowledge of MRP is essential 
  • Active involvement in or completion of APICS certification would be considered an asset 
  • Understand and apply knowledge of product structures, configuration control, contracts terminology and ISO procedures 
  • Highly effective organization and planning skills
  • Understanding of business processes and functional inter-relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Advanced problem solving skills and analytical skills. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills (written & verbal)
  • Self-motivated (works independently)
  • Works effectively with teams and facilitates interaction
  • Maintains positive working relationships with other team members
  • Excellent time management skills and able to prioritize and meet work schedules
