Role Summary
The Sr SOX Analyst is a subject matter expert in internal controls over financial reporting and leads the Controller department’s verification of SOX compliance annually for all of Alaska Air Group. As an individual contributor, this role leads testing of SOX controls, coordinates with the Company’s internal and external auditors, and reports on overall SOX status to key stakeholders within the business.
Key Duties
Perform testing over the design and operating effectiveness of SOX controls. Coordinate and attend walkthroughs, manage SOX request lists, and document risk and control matrices, process narratives and flowcharts.
Collaborate with process owners to review SOX documentation (risk and control matrices, narratives, flowcharts) and identify areas where control enhancements and/or documentation improvements are needed.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors, as well as process owners to ensure engagement, alignment and timely execution of the SOX program.
Play a critical role in the continued enhancement of the SOX program in response to a changing control environment, changing processes and changing technology within the Company.
Assist in the maintenance of the overall SOX project plan and internal SOX documentation.
Assess, track and document audit findings, gaps and control deficiencies that arise throughout the annual audit cycle.
Review and document findings as part of annual SOC-1 review process.
Assist in the training of process owners on SOX compliance program activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
3 years of experience in Internal Controls, Internal Audit, and/or public accounting at a “Big 4” type firm, or 4 years of experience in corporate Internal controls, Internal Audit, and/or public accounting.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and/or auditing, including internal control concepts (COSO, PCAOB).
Ability to manage multiple projects and balance priorities.
Ability to understand and breakdown complex ideas to support decision making.
Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S
Preferred
Experience with leading, planning, scoping, testing and reporting for a full year SOX program in current or previous roles.
Experience in communicating and presenting to management.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio
Knowledge of accounting/finance IT systems.
CPA or CIA designation preferred.

Salary Range
$95,000 -- $142,600 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
