Job Description:

The Strategic Sourcing Analyst invests in the future of Southwests People by sourcing materials and developing parts, repairs, and manufacturing capabilities for Southwests aircraft maintenance through deep analysis and development of data-driven proposals. This role works collaboratively with Teams in Technical Operations (Tech Ops) and Engineering to understand maintenance needs, strategically source, negotiate contracts, establish vendor relationships, and gain FAA approval to lower spend and enable a seamless maintenance experience. This role may also support aircraft teardown, consignment and airframe contracts as well as manage inventory, pricing and materials utilization data. The Strategic Sourcing Analyst is excited to bring a problem-solving mindset to this integral Team to drive their own career with Heart and play a part in maintaining the largest Boeing 737 fleet in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate total Supplier value by aligning business needs with Supplier capabilities, leveraging spend and volume of business; analyze quotes for quality, accuracy, TCO, trend analysis, and contract terms to ensure competitive pricing

  • Assess and define business needs; develop effective Supplier negotiation strategies and use innovative procurement solutions to maximize value.

  • Implement Supplier Agreements; ensure Supplier compliance to corporate standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate drafting/execution of Contracts, including legal, cyber, tax and other Stakeholder review to ensure compliance with internal guidelines/policies; manage administration of Agreements.

  • Develop presentations and reporting for Team and/or Leadership and other Stakeholders

  • Maintain and develop supplier relationships by attending trade shows, supplier meetings, conferences, etc.

  • Drive sourcing process through Electronic Procurement System/Enterprise Resource Planning (EPS/ERP), provide effective/timely communication to Suppliers/Team throughout sourcing process; coordinate Supplier presentations, demos, or product testing; conduct site visits.

  • Work with cross functional Teams to identify opportunities for cost-savings/efficiencies. Support the development of business cases to help prioritize opportunities and champion improvement projects

  • Lead cross-functional Teams category to develop sourcing and procurement strategies for internal Customer needs in collaboration with internal Stakeholders.

  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employees Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the financial markets, banking, supply base/competitive landscape, industry trends, key issues, and assess potential business impacts following world events thru effective research.

  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data

  • Ability to understand/execute each step of sourcing methodology to maximize value and service levels.

  • Skilled with procurement contract types and when to use them effectively; thorough understanding of Contract negotiation lifecycle.

  • Skilled in leading negotiations with limited guidance, understand how to employ common negotiation tactics.

  • Ability to obtain and disseminate information in any setting to gain influence

  • Manages conflict internally and externally at various levels of Leadership.

  • Skilled with financial models; able to perform projected cost scenarios and cost-benefit analysis techniques; thorough knowledge of TCO cost models.

  • Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software

  • Skilled in working with cross-functional Teams while achieving consensus

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to complete analysis, and synthesize information to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems, while working in a highly collaborative environment

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:

    • Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field

      • Economic/financial analysis, commodity management, and cross-functional team leadership

      • Leading small Team projects or some larger interdepartmental projects with some senior Stakeholders

      • Leading negotiations with medium / significant Suppliers

  • Functional experience of:

    • Various IT systems (e.g. SAP ERP/VIM, Ariba, Boeing Toolbox, Maintenix, Aeroxchange, QuickBase database management, Alteryx, Tableau)

  • Preferred: Experience acquiring, analyzing, and presenting information to the FAA and Executive Leaders

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information

  • Ability to work flexible hours to successfully meet deadlines; extended work hours may be required

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $72,800.00 per year to $80,900.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience**. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
