Job Title: Avionics TechnicianJob Description
We are seeking experienced Electronics Technicians (Test) to support a maintenance program in Lake Charles, LA. The Navy E-6 is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the Boeing 707 platform, primarily used for long-range patrols along the U.S. border and in source and transit zone countries. This platform, modified to the E-6B standard, conveys instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines, a mission known as TACAMO (Take Charge And Move Out).
Responsibilities
- Perform flight line pre/post flight systems checks.
- Conduct flight readiness checks, gear swings, flight control checks, and rigging of aircraft flight controls.
- Support standard hangar avionics modifications and maintenance.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems not addressed by manufacturers manuals.
- Evaluate electromagnetic radiation, isolate malfunctions, and incorporate engineering changes.
- Use complex test instruments such as high-frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft avionics and electrical system components.
- Perform aircraft maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and testing tasks.
- Determine the sequence for installing, removing, maintaining, repairing, or fabricating critical aircraft components or systems.
- Perform testing, rework, and repair in various fields of specialization.
- Apply shop theory and skills to accomplish assigned tasks using engineering data, blueprints, sketches, and technical orders.
- Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain various types of complex aircraft equipment, components, devices, or systems.
- Notify lead personnel or supervision of any malfunctions, defects, and damages of equipment, material, and product.
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectiveness.
- Work from blueprints, engineering orders, schematics, repair manuals, and other technical documents on aircraft systems.
Essential Skills- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with 10 years of Aircraft Avionics Experience.
- Ability to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours.
- Capability to be subject to a variety of physical conditions.
- Ability to wear a respirator and other safety gear (must be okay with shaving and no long beards).
- Proficiency in using manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, heat shrink gun, etc.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in performing flight line pre/post flight systems checks.
- Experience with rigging, crimping, terminations, and routing.
- Experience with E-6B modifications/testing.
- Experience implementing and/or developing new test procedures.
- True modifications experience for electrical modifications.
- Experience with cannon plugs is a huge plus.

Work Environment
The work environment includes a hangar that is non-climate controlled with a relaxed attire policy (work pants/shorts and t-shirts acceptable; tennis shoes okay). Candidates must be okay with working 6 or 7 days a week on either 1st or 2nd shift, with potential shifts ranging from 10-12 hours.
