ABOUT THE ROLE

Visiting customer refineries, chemical plants, or fabrication shops to assess the mechanical integrity of the process equipment and verify conformance to Honeywell UOP, customer, and code specifications. Physical inspection requires climbing up, crawling through, and walking on pressure vessels, storage tanks and piping at the process plant or in fabrication shops. During plant turnarounds, inspectors assess equipment condition, issue repair recommendations, verify suitable completion of the repairs, and forecast future maintenance or replacement of equipment. Shop inspections of equipment occur during all stages of fabrication to ensure compliance with UOP Standard Specifications, customer requirements, engineering specifications, and all applicable industry codes. Each inspector writes their report using UOPs computer-generated forms on a supplied laptop computer. Effective presentation of results to the customer at meetings is frequently required. This position requires extensive travel that includes locations throughout the world. Assignments generally last 1-6 weeks, with no return home during that time normally available. Work hours during an assignment are typically six days per week, 10 hours per day, but can be 12-hour days, seven days a week. Night shifts and holiday coverage are also a possibility.

MUST HAVE

• Either a Mechanical Engineering degree or an API-510 Pressure Vessel Inspector certification is the minimum educational/qualification requirement.
• Experience: 5 years minimum with direct involvement in refinery or chemical plant inspection, maintenance turnarounds or
shutdowns.
• It is preferred that an employee have a basic understanding of UOP Refining & Petrochemical processes and technologies and be familiar with the following: TEMA, ASME, API, ASTM, AWS, and AISI codes. Knowledge of the basic principles of corrosion, metallurgy and construction materials, welding procedures, refractory selection and application procedures, etc.
Additional Internationally recognized certifications that would be a plus would be as follows;
- API 570 Piping Inspector - API 653 Above Ground Storage Tank Inspector
- API 571 Corrosion and Materials Professional
- API 577 Welding Inspection and Metallurgy Professional
- API 580 Risk-Based Inspection Professional
- API 936 Refractory Quality Control Professional
- AWS CWI American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector
- NBIC National Board Inspection Code (Fired and Un-Fired Pressure Vessels & Boilers.

WE VALUE 

Honeywell UOP Inspection Senior Manager will verify employee training and certifications are kept up to date by visiting the appropriate website for verification. 

Honeywell UOP Inspection Services allows each inspector to expense off the costs of required continuous training, Re-certifications, and/or new additional certifications.

A new inspector works in the Honeywell UOP Inspection Services Group for the first year. They will be teamed up with either a Senior or Lead Inspector on most assignments.

This will ensure that they have a basic understanding of our culture and how we handle the customer (both internal and external), obtain a basic understanding of our reporting systems, understand the importance of correct and timely expense and time reporting, and understand our safety culture and training requirements.

Continuous LMS training regarding all UOP Technologies.

Continuous HSE/Safety training, renewed as required.

API, AWS or other qualifications/certifications must be maintained on a 3-year basis to verify continued participation in the inspection field and passing a test that includes your basic knowledge and any changes made in the codes since your last certification.

Attend quarterly Honeywell UOP Group meetings where we discuss Safety/HSE, Technical Topics, and findings from current Inspection Activities.

A database of the different UOP Technologies the inspector has supported will be maintained, and the type of site support

given for each service year will be provided. This could include but is not limited to, turnaround, shutdowns, damage assessment

support, turnaround planning support, turnaround workshop support, training support, and fabrication shop inspection support.
