Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking an Associate Flight Management Systems Service Engineer to join the Avionics Systems team in Seal Beach, CA.

As the Flight Management Systems Service Engineer, you will be addressing and resolving in-service issues related to airplane auto-flight systems, flight management systems, and air data/inertial reference systems. In this role, you will also be tasked with working directly with airline customers to analyze complex system issues, develop and perform tests to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements, and monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

Since Boeing Customer Support operates on a 24/7/365 basis, employees must be willing to work flexible hours and/or non-standard shifts to support our fleets. International and domestic travel may be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works with customers to develop and document complex avionics system requirements

  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product life-cycle

  • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

  • Completely understands and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Possesses general knowledge of other related disciplines

  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Develops solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives

  • Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Receives general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives

  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results, reaching erroneous decisions or making recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources

This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 1+ years of engineering experience

  • Able and willing to work 2nd shift (24/7/365-day operation. Saturday and Sunday may be required work days)

  • Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally 10 of the time

Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills / Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience in avionics engineering

  • Flight management systems flight simulation experience (desktop, fixed, and/or motion based

  • Flight management systems experience with Boeing or McDonnell Douglas commercial airplane models

Typical Education/Experience: 

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range: $85,850 - $116,150
