Profile

The Avionics Engineer will design and/or provide support to the avionics design team. They will perform design review, will generate ground and flight tests and/or perform these tests on aircraft. They will be required to generate electrical analysis and reports, including test reports. The occupant of this position will report to the Director of Engineering and will work in close cooperation with the electrical and avionics delegates.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design of electrical and avionics modifications, including new installations, supported by Autodesk AutoCAD software and based on industry specific drafting standards, like IEEE, ANSY, CSA, ASTM or Mil-STD.
  • Generate certification and post installation ground and flight tests, performing analysis based on international recognized standards (e.g., SAE ARP).
  • Review of the internal drawings / documentation.
  • Participate in and contribute to discussions surrounding project related design issues.
  • Provide liaison support for installation and troubleshooting.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or higher)
  • Eligibility for licensing as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario

Skills & Experience

  • The candidate shall possess a minimum of three (3) years experience in aviation. 
  • Experience in aircraft electrical, avionics and communication systems operation (including troubleshooting), electrical load calculation and analysis.
  • Aircraft electrical, avionics and communication systems design experience.
  • Computer literacy: Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), MATLAB
  • Good writing and oral skills, initiative, a strong sense of responsibility and good engineering judgement.
  • Available for travel (domestic and international) when required.
