Boeing Commercial Airplanes is looking for a creative, driven, and accountable Senior Manager (Level L) to join the Avionics leadership team in Everett, WA with multi-model responsibility across the entirety of Boeing’s commercial airplane fleet (from the 707 to the DC-8 to the 737 to the 787).

We are continuing to build on our functional capabilities around Flight, Thrust, and Communication Management Computers - outside-the-box thinking and a willingness to challenge the status quo are required!

This job includes leading four managers and an organization of roughly sixty engineers working to design, integrate, certify and deploy Flight, Thrust, and Communication Management products across commercial airplanes, establishing a project management system, interfacing with program schedules, and leading the engineering team in creating and executing a strategic roadmap.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads, mentors, and coaches first line managers throughout the avionics organization

  • Establishes and deploys product roadmaps for Flight, Thrust, and Communication Management technologies

  • Communicates with engineering leadership and airplane programs to synchronize schedules, development plans, and training plans

  • Owns and manages organizational and product risks and opportunities

  • Holds organization accountable by establishing and executing a team operating rhythm

  • Supports all decisions with data

  • Leads organization by example of being a highly technical decision maker

  • Coordinates and leads discussions with regulators, suppliers, and experts across the company.

  • Relentlessly advocates for the customer

This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options (Everett, WA).

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Manager leading engineering teams.

  • 8+ years of experience working with multiple internal or external stakeholders (i.e. business partner, customer, finance, suppliers) in planning and executing projects.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • ABET Accreditation is preferred.

  • Experience with the Agile methodology as an Agile scrum master and/or product owner.

  • Experience as an Agile scrum master and/or product owner.

  • Experience with project planning and management software.

  • Familiarity with MBE and/or ML development.

  • Be data and metrics-driven in decision-making and exhibit strong communication skills around complex, technical issues, as well as the ability to effectively present to myriad audiences.

  • Familiarity with Flight Management, Thrust Management, or Communication Management designs and architectures.

  • Familiarity with avionics development lifecycles, circuit card development, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754, and ARP4761.

  • Familiarity with system level and airplane level certification approaches and strategies.

  • Familiarity with system level and airplane level development activities, including SSAs, FHAs, FMEAs, EWIS analysis, etc.

  • Self-starter with an exceptional focus on delivering quality results in a timely manner while challenging the status quo.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $171,700 – $232,300
