BCA Regulatory Administration team in the Product & Services Safety (P&SS) Organization is seeking a Certification Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) to join our team in Long Beach, CA.
This position would support BCA certification efforts for Boeing/McDonnell Douglas out of production and in production models and Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft (MCDA). We’re seeking individuals with experience in Part 25 certification and engineering programs to manage Organization DeDo signation Authorization (ODA) projects for major changes to type design and validations.
This position will interface with ODA Unit members such as Project Administrators and Engineering Unit Members. Responsibilities will also include participation in preliminary design activities to develop certification strategies, provide counsel on pertinent regulatory requirements, and make suggestions to enhance the certifiability of the new products to minimize future certification risks.
This position is hybrid. This means the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed locations. Long Beach, CA. This is at the hiring teams discretion and could potentially change in the future
Position Responsibilities:
Addressing Certification Plans, Compliance Deliverables, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Alternative Methods of Compliance (AMOCs)
Participation in preliminary design activities to develop certification strategies and to provide counsel on pertinent regulatory requirements, and make suggestions to enhance the certifiability of the new products to minimize future certification risks
Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions
Evaluates customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces
Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture
Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success
Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes
Resolves cross-functional technical issues
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
2+ years of engineering experience
Experience in FAA certification or airworthiness
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience as the prime contact on projects that require coordination between organizations
Experience with Boeing Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) Procedures Manual and affected processes and procedures
Experience with Boeing ODA Procedures Manual and affected processes and procedures
Experience working with the FAA, particularly the Boeing Aviation Safety Oversight Office (BASOO) and the Los Angeles and Seattle Aircraft Certification Offices (ACO)
Experience with Part 25 certification (FAA Airworthiness Standards: Transport Category Airplanes)
Excellent cross-functional teaming, collaborative problem solving, building lasting relationships & proficiency in written and verbal communication

Associate (Level 2):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Mid-Level (Level 3):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary Pay Range Associate Level 2: $87,550-$118,450
Summary Pay Range Mid-Level Level 3: $104,550-$141,450
