Are you an inventive, forward-thinking Electrical or Computer Engineering student with unique architecture and design ideas?  Are you self-motivated and willing to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a dynamic development team?  If so, this internship is for you!  Collins Aerospace is currently seeking Electrical or Computer Engineering interns to support the design and development of a FIPS 140 security compatible hardware solution.  This opportunity will allow you to explore and innovate in an agile development environment, participating in all development lifecycle activities. 
 

What You Will Do:

  • Capture and decompose requirements into a system, hardware, and software level architecture models.
  • Develop an integrated software and VHDL solution on a commercially available MPSoC circuit card assembly for an approach implementing approved algorithms that meet FIPS 140-3 requirements.
  • Develop hardware and software integration test procedures.
  • Develop hardware and software user documentation.

What You Will Learn:

  • Hardware and Software development in a Collins Aerospace environment
  • Requirement decomposition and allocation
  • Working knowledge of various FIPS publications
  • Implementation utilizing open-source code and development for a rapid prototype
  • Hardware/software embedded cryptography

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience in engineering lifecycle disciplines including design, implementation, and test
  • Experience with Object Oriented design and embedded programming
  • Concentration on cryptography algorithms
  • Experience in FPGA development using VHDL
  • Experience with basic cybersecurity and cryptography
  • Concentration on cryptographic algorithms
  • Experience with embedded microprocessor architectures
  • Hardware and software requirements capture and decomposition
  • Sharp analytical skills with strong attention to detail

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Must be a commutable distance to Richardson, TX to work an onsite schedule. This position may be eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
