Description:•Serve as a subject matter expert conducting and supervising a range of projects involving design and development of composites, insulation, casting, assembly and test tooling used for manufacturing of energetics
•Apply physics and material science principles for safe tooling practices on propellants, pyrotechnics, and/or explosives for product development or improvement to meet program requirements
•Develop methods, analyze and test assemblies accounting for physical and mechanical changes due to thermal expansion/ contraction and cure shrinkages, and establish optimal properties by modifying geometries to achieve objectives
•Troubleshooting including identification, isolation and correction of processing or product anomalies and evaluation and implementation of solutions to technical problems involving the utilization of physics and material analysis techniques.
•Technical writing of reports, publications, proposals and presentations
• Specific tasks include: SRM case preparation (clean/abrade/lining) tooling design, design of tooling for assembly of SRM components (i.e. closures, nozzles, Ignition system) and final motor integration. Design of lifting, handling and processing fixtures for explosive items. Develop hazardous shipping requirements, and design of explosive shipping assemblies (i.e. Shipping containers for energetic assemblies and sub-assemblies)

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM), or similar related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
•Experience in the field of Propulsion related Energetics must include any one of the following: warhead, solid rocket motors (SRM), ignition systems
•General technical knowledge of rocket motor components and processes
•Experience in tooling design to include any of the following: seals, surface finishes, coatings, castings or precision fits
•Experience developing and proposing SRM tooling scope and cost estimates
• Willingness to relocate to a future domestic location that may include one of the following: Orlando, Troy, Huntsville, Denver or other designated production location
• Must be willing to travel domestically up to 50
•Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance
Desired Skills:
• Master’s degree or PhD in in a technical discipline such as physics or aerospace engineering
•Experience with CREO modeling techniques
•A working knowledge of energetic material regulations and safe handling/measurement
•Hands-on experience with program/project work in applied R&D and / or production support
•Experience with experimental design and data analysis
•Experience with high level presentations and briefings
•DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $118,100 - $226,400 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
