Position also does not need a clearance to start however may need to obtain while on contract so please be sure they are eligible to obtain a clearance.

Performs a variety of duties in the electronic mechanical electromechanical or optical areas. Constructs troubleshoots calibrates adjusts tests and maintains equipment components devices or systems. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments modifications and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions

The hired person will join the 9 person Specialty Laboratory group focused on testing electronic parts and materials used in satellite and missile systems. The need to be trained on the lab operations is understood and expected.

This is a hands-on lab position with the primary responsibility being to learn and operate the flash x-ray system in conjunction with a more experienced engineer as part of a two-person team testing the effects of prompt dose radiation on electronics. The operator needs to position parts being tested in the test set up zone per instructions, then perform a firing sequence sitting at the system operation console while communicating with another engineer collecting data on how the part performs during the radiation exposure. The hired person will need to be trained and comply with all safety and security procedures. The other main task will be to hand solder components to printed circuit boards (PCB/PWB) used in the testing.

Additional responsibilities may include include basic system maintenance, performing standard electrical tests on components such as diodes and transistors, and possibly some equipment scheduling tasks.

A person will excel in this role if he/she has interest in electronics, performing hands-on work, and is willing to be a versatile team member in a small group laboratory environment.

Hands on soldering experience - preferred
Electrical testing using power supplies, oscilloscopes, voltmeters and similar equipment - Preferred
