Mission of the Job:

Power Electronics Engineer to develop RTCA DO-160 and MIL-SPEC AC and DC power supply systems and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) protections for analog and digital avionics and military electronic hardware.

Working as part of a team, he will be a primary contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex hardware.

Take responsibility for planning and execution of development projects to meet critical delivery timelines

Main activities:

  • Lead the development of AC-DC and DC-DC power supply product requirements through consulting with product manager, project leader and product assurance personnel.
  • Drive the design efforts to meet specified product performance for all aspects of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) compliance
  • Develop simulation models for the analysis of interference coupling mechanisms, shielding integrity, and circuit/cable interface isolation to mitigate and control conducted/radiated emissions and susceptibility threats.
  • Design and develop hardware schematics, PCB layouts, and Bills of Materials.
  • Design and develop wiring and interconnections for analog and digital hardware
  • Design EMI/EMC compliance testing methodologies, test setup, and supervise their constructions and checkout.
  • Conduct hardware and software level integration and test including documentation of build instructions, control plans, guidelines, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Support and provide technical coordination of the successful execution of EMI/EMC development and certification testing.
  • Ensure traceability between sub system requirements and system requirements.
  • Selection/evaluation/integration of COTs equipment into system/equipment product line
  • Review and translate high level EMI/EMC requirements to the system, S/S and circuit level.
  • Develop simulation models for the analysis of interference coupling mechanisms, shielding integrity, and circuit/cable interface isolation to mitigate and control conducted/radiated emissions and susceptibility threats.
  • Support various aspects of technical project planning, including designs, proposals, cost estimates, schedules and technical interface meetings throughout the program lifecycle.
  • The individual should be a self-starter, versatile, problem solver, and have a willingness to work as part of a team; must be willing to travel occasionally and to move to other locations within the group in order to assist in troubleshooting efforts, attend design review meetings.
  • Be an integral part of the engineering project team and complete assigned efforts within schedule and budget

Education/Training:

  • University:  Telecommunication/Electronic Engineering Degree

Experience:

  • Analysis and design capability of power supply and protection of analog and digital equipment’s for all aspects of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) compliance, including EMI/EMC/EME/ESD/EMP and lightning.
  • Design and develop hardware schematics, PCB layouts and Bills of Materials.
  • Interfaces electrical design (Ethernet, serials, ARINC429, ARINC720, I2C, SPI, CANBUS)
  • Conduct hardware and software level integration and test
  • Conduct qualification test campaign for hardware and software level integration and test for EMI/EMC/EME/ESD/EMP according to MIL or Airborne Standard
  • Develop engineering test requirements and unit/subsystem/system test plans.
  • Previous experience with the design and analysis of power filters, power quality, harmonic distortion, ripple, noise, feedback loop compensation, magnetic design and EMI considerations.
  • Experience in analog and digital power supply design, testing, part selection and derating, as well performing engineering analysis of power electrical circuits and systems.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461,RTCA-DO-160
  • Specific heritage in airborne environment for telecommunication system 
  • Proficiency in the use of Ecad Software
  • Basic knowledge of SATCOM technologies
  • Ability to identify risks and issues and to provide appropriate solutions.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering (or similar) and at least five  years of design/development engineering experience, preferably in the military or aerospace industry.

  • Represent ADS-R in a manner consistent with its leading-edge technical reputation.
