Job Description SummaryThe Lead Additive Process Monitoring Engineer will support development and industrialization of in-process monitoring technologies for additive manufacturing. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide technical and program leadership to development of advanced machine learning tools to enable statistical process control of additive manufacturing processes and quality assurance of additive hardware. This role will have you planning and executing for operations with a high impact on business needs. The Additive Technology Center develops and transitions new materials and manufacturing processes for prototype, test and production hardware used for critical NPI programs.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support process development and industrialization of digital in-process monitoring technologies in additive manufacturing
  • Hands-on work with the additive manufacturing process with data analytic development and industrialization as well as integration of process sensing tools with GE Aviation’s digital data infrastructure
  • Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions
  • Support other GE businesses, supplier, and internal / external customers
  • Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities
  • Provide engineering support, within one’s specialty, to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives
  • Leverage expertise to resolve problems in the field or during the manufacturing processes
  • Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools
  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
  • Function as program manager when appropriate
  • Data science, data analytics, python, process monitoring, process modeling, additive manufacturing, weld monitoring, process-property relationships

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma / GED and minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing or advanced engineering degree from an accredited university or college.

  • Strong proficiency in the machine learning and analysis and processing of large data sets
  • Demonstrated coding proficiency, preferably in Python
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Demonstrated leadership in advancing the state of the art in a technical specialty
