Role Introduction

Reports to: Components & Powerplants Manager

Engineering’s role is focused on reassurance, keeping our people and our customers safe, ensuring that in every aspect of our operation we have industry leading performance and that our various fleet programmes are delivering to plan, budget and specification. Engineering’s ambition is to be one of the world’s highest performing, customer centric and progressive engineering teams and the role of Lead Component Engineer – C&P is to be responsible for optimising component cost-of-ownership across all Cathay fleets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tactical cost management via vetting of repair invoices and charges
  • Overseeing the component recertification process
  • Conduct regular review of actual component costs versus industry benchmarks
  • Identifying cost drivers
  • Working cross-functionally and with OEM’s and service providers to identify causes and implement mitigating actions for high cost components
  • Pro-actively identifying future cost risks and defining and implementing mitigating actions
  • Retention of value by retaining high-value components during aircraft lease returns/retirements
  • Define and lead LEAN and other cross-functional improvement projects.
  • Deputise for Components and Powerplants Manager as required.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years experience in aircraft maintenance and/or engineering.
  • Degree in Engineering / Aerospace or other relevant field.
  • Good analytical skills and process-oriented.
  • Good commercial and financial awareness and acumen.
  • Ability to work with OEM’s and external suppliers to define corrective actions
  • Strong in communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Drive for excellence.
  • Adaptable and responsive to change. Demonstrated ability to identify and drive process improvements.
