Job Description SummaryGE Aerospace Polska Sp. z o.o. in Warsaw is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who wants to join the High-Pressure Compressor Rotors and Airfoils Mechanical Design Team working on the clean sheet advanced turboprop engine - GE Catalyst.
In this role you will work on the newest aircraft engine technology development and certification in HPC Rotors & Airfoils Sub Section. The work scope covers new product design and development phase (NPI) of the High-Pressure Compressor Module, introduction of the prototype components to production and experimental testing as well as the support of manufacturing, assembly, engine, and component tests towards certification, according to FAA/EASA regulations and field support for the engines currently delivered to the customers.
The role requires engineering problem solving attitude, good mechanical design background, creativity, accountability, and ability to define goals for oneself and others. This is a unique opportunity to become the member of an engineering team in Poland, develop new product in the aviation market and collaborate in the international and diverse environment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute engineering activities related to mechanical design development and maturation of turboprop engine rotors and airfoils components.
  • Evaluation of manufacturing non-conformances against strength/durability and functionality requirements to allow for installation on the engine.
  • Support of engine certification efforts (certification reports preparation and support)
  •  Address and execute components producibility challenges, developing design enhancements for non-conformances volume reduction.
  • Design optimization to improve cost and weight of selected components.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Participate as an author and presenter in technical and program reviews (for task/project results review and approval)
  •  Report status for the assigned tasks and projects.
  • Collaboration with other teams across disciplines and organizations, including hardware suppliers.
  • Perform sensitivity studies to deliver safe, weight and cost-efficient product. 
  •  Execute low and medium complexity projects and manage key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  •  BSc/MSc in engineering or similar.
  • Experience in engine parts or similar parts mechanical design.
  • Fundamentals of the strength of materials.
  • Fundamental knowledge about material application.
  • Fluent in mechanical drawing interpretation especially ASME specification.
  • Fundamentals of the manufacturing processes for engine components or similar.
  • Strong communication skills, including English language (spoken and written).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a challenging and dynamic environment under time pressure.
  • Practical knowledge of the CAE engineering tools: CAD, FEM, Excel.
  • Understanding of the gas turbines fundamentals and architecture.
