The Manufacturing Engineer will provide critical Manufacturing Engineering support to both operational and development programs. The role requires engineering expertise and problem-solving skills to deliver zero-defect projects. This includes responsibility for materials, tooling, part fabrication, assembly, and ensuring robust, capable manufacturing process technology is in place. The role requires a hands-on approach to continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and implementing solutions for complex technical challenges in a manufacturing environment.

Hourly Rate: $31 to $65, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems for Aerospace, customers, and suppliers.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing process development, integration, and optimization in production environments.
  • Utilize root cause analysis, and corrective and preventative actions to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers, suppliers, and coworkers to ensure project success.
  • Drive continuous improvement in production processes by implementing Lean initiatives and Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tools.
  • Develop and implement production plans from concept through to production, ensuring a high level of process capability.
  • Manage product development, first article development, build process definitions, and configuration changes.
  • Provide support for equipment moves, and run saturation curves/coverage checks pre- and post-move to ensure no changes to the process.
  • Perform and document first articles for shot peen programs after equipment moves.
  • Compile process validation documentation for customer approval.
  • Validate machine repeatability after moving to a new building and re-approve for production.
  • Prepare process validation documentation for customer approval.
  • Test and validate process parameters on vibro-polishing equipment after delivery.
  • Write work instructions for new equipment and train local staff.
  • Gather and submit process validation documentation to customers.
  • Program and validate curing ovens/stress-relieve furnaces per customer requirements.
  • Write work instructions for new equipment, train staff, and submit process validation packages to customers.
  • Oversee the setup of metallurgical and chemical test labs to support new buildings, including equipment ordering, installation, and training.
  • Develop and document work instructions for a wide range of processes such as plastic blast, chemical cleaning, NDT inspection, CMM inspection, balancing, part engraving, EB welding, and more.
  • Create and implement maintenance schedules (AM/PM) for newly installed equipment.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering.

  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with expertise in manufacturing processes and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the aerospace industry preferred.

  • Experience in an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) organization is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of welding, thermal spray, shot peening, CNC machining processes is preferred.

  • Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000.

  • Ability to identify technical problems and provide solutions while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Skilled in applying complex, non-routine analysis to improve production processes.

  • Able to work independently while supervising others and contributing to the success of a technical team.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the formal and informal structure of the business, with commercial awareness at the local level.

  • A strong drive to complete tasks on time and a proactive approach to identifying better ways of doing things.
  • Ability to document technical processes, write detailed work instructions, and gather necessary validation packages for customer approvals.
  • Competent in understanding and integrating various disciplines, contributing to broader team success.
