Boeing Maritime and Intelligence Systems (M&IS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Guidance Navigation and Controls Engineer to join our team. As a Guidance Navigation and Controls Engineer at M&IS, you will be part of a bi-coastal team delivering the best solutions for todays complex undersea engineering challenges. Our products range from highly capable Autonomous Extra-Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (XLUUVs) to unique Integrated Missions underwater solutions for a variety of customers. This position will provide an opportunity to work on a variety of precision Position Navigation and Timing development efforts within the M&IS team, implementing new capabilities in existing field units, and working in a cross-functional team environment where customer focus, teamwork, and communication are critical.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support developing cutting-edge models, simulation tools, and navigation strategies for systems using sensor aided navigation techniques for a variety of applications in undersea environments.
Evaluate system level requirements, and establish navigation system design requirements to support design realization.
Interact with some of the top navigation equipment suppliers, military experts, and civilian experts in the world while supporting team efforts to design products and review and analyze data to ensure compliance to requirements.
Support developing and analyzing navigation system mechanizations, error and performance models and component error budgets.
Collect and review data from hardware-in-the-loop and system / component tests to measure/validate navigation performance against design requirements.
Support candidate sensor system evaluation to increase navigation performance, decrease cost, and ensure compliance to requirements.
Analyze system and component test results and identify trade opportunities to optimize performance, cost or other attributes.
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Active CI polygraph
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
2 years or more experience with position navigation and timing efforts
Experience with developing or using modeling and simulation tools.
Programming skills in languages such as C, C++, Python, Java, MATLAB / Simulink, and R.
Must possess good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Must have demonstrated a strong work ethic and sense of urgency for completing assigned work with a history of meeting commitments
Ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in implementing algorithms in real time systems
Knowledge of estimation theory (e.g. Kalman filtering).
Knowledge of sensor aided navigation / inertial navigation.
Knowledge of advanced mathematical principles as applied to aerospace analysis and modeling. Examples could include transform methods, computational geometry, numerical linear algebra, optimization, computational math, numerical analysis, and Monte Carlo analysis.
Highly motivated and must work well in a team environment
The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Understanding and experience with middleware (e.g. CORBA)
Team experience (Agile work environment, formal technical presentations, formal customer presentations)

Experienced Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range Experienced: $ 108,800 – $ 147,200.
Summary pay range Lead: $ 135,150 – $ 182,850.
