Position Overview:

Mobility and Surveillance Tool Engineering team located in Tukwila, WA. The team supports multiple BDS military derivative programs, including VC-25B, P-8 Poseidon, KC-46 Tanker, and AWACS, as well as unique special projects throughout the company due to their specialized skills.  This specific opening is for a tool engineering designer supporting our production design efforts. Our team supports a wide variety of military derivative aircraft, as well as other special projects for our internal and external customers.

The qualified candidate’s main area of focus will be development of production support tooling to enable a wide array of aircraft installation and modification processes. Responsibilities also include tool design, process improvement, support of tool fabrication, support to aircraft issues, and proactive engagement with the factory on a daily basis to solve issues and collect improvement ideas. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are highly desirable. Position requires a mechanical and spatial aptitude, and strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Level Equipment & Tool Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports the evaluation of program and project requirements, develops moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.  

  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates for equipment and tooling. Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.  

  • Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares. 

  • Develops and implements moderately complex work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation. Supports studies for disposition of assets.

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience working in an engineering discipline and working in production/design environment

  • 1+ years of experience using 3-dimensional design systems, such as CATIA V5 or Solidworks

  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects in support of key milestones and delivery schedules

  • General Drawing Interpretation & GD&T knowledge

  • Willing and able to travel occasionally to support customer needs

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience designing tooling for a production system

  • Familiarity with Boeing/OSHA safety and regulatory requirements for tooling designs

  • Familiarity with using software code in problem solving and/or simple process automation. Any coding language is acceptable, though experience with Visual Basic, HTML, and Spatial Analyzer .mp is preferred

  • Proven capability to correctly evaluate program and project requirements and develop complex designs solutions for the production system

  • Strong leadership and analytical skills

  • Have a positive attitude and outgoing communications skills

  • Excellent innovation and creativity mindset

  • Experience on cross-functional and/or cross-organizational teams; works effectively with diverse teams, groups, and individuals

  • Ability to sustain high levels of performance while multi-tasking as a team member and individual contributor

  • Flexibility to support requirements in a rapidly changing, dynamic, fast-paced program environment

Typical Education/Experience: 

Associate (Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range (Associate - Level 2): $81,600 - $110,400 Summary pay range (Mid-Level - Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950
