Job Summary


DRS Infrared Sensors and Systems in Dallas, Texas specializes as a worldwide leader in thermal imagery and sensory solutions for commercial and military applications.



We are looking to add a new member to our Focal Plane Array team to help provide the vision and technical expertise necessary to drive our development and improvement activities needed to lead the industry in product capability and manufacturability. We are looking for someone who can develop and/or improve Metrology processes relating to processing FPA wafers and who will consistently drive to push our processing technology and manufacturability beyond its current capability.


Job Responsibilities



  • Continuously improve existing manufacturing processes to optimize yield, increase capacity, and reduce cycle time.

  • Provide the vision for the future of process development/improvement activities needed to lead in product capability and manufacturability in the metrology area.

  • Lead and complete projects on schedule and budget

  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel

  • Establish and maintain metrics to validate material quality at various stages in the process flow

  • Design, develop, and document new or improved processes and equipment

  • Analyze and disposition non-conforming material or processes

  • Able to effectively manage and balance production requirements and development activities.

  • Interact with management, peers, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate technical activities and progress reports

  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD clearance as needed.
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent of education and experience in relevant discipline such as Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemistry.
  • Experience: 2+ years experience with Metrology
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor fabrication tools and processes with particular knowledge and experience with metrology tools ranging from thin-film characterization tools (dielectrics and metals) to FTIR to SEM/TEM.
  • Understand the physics and operational modes behind various metrology tools and processes, including the assumptions and applicability of various characterization models, the ability to create new recipes, and the capabilities and limitations of various metrology techniques.
  • Ability to understand and analyze data related to semiconductor device performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Organizational skills and the ability to document and communicate plans, experiments, progress, and results.
  • Willingness to spend extended periods of time in manufacturing areas or cleanrooms

Desired

  • Experience with optical characterization tools such as a Nanospec and spectroscopic ellipsometry.
  • Understanding of the physics behind measuring thin film optical constants, absorption/reflectance measurements, sheet resistivity, and other thin film material properties.
  • Programming and data query experience is a plus
  • Strong foundation in semiconductors and solid state physics
  • Working knowledge of DOE, SPC, and formal problem solving methods such as DMAIC

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
