Job Description SummaryThe Powerplant Engineer will sit as part of the GE Aerospace On Wing Support London Engineering team providing technical support to shop operations. The successful candidate will deliver technical evaluations for engines and/or components for continued time workscopes on engines under the control of On Wing Support London on site or in the field.

We are looking for a strong team player that can work across many cross functional teams globally and support a fast-paced environment based at London Heathrow.

Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities:

  • Receive engine-specific workscopes, special work orders, repair order etc. from Fleet Management, product engineering and / or customers, evaluate, provide feedback, and translate into enterprise ERP tool.

  • Review incoming records for workscope applicability. Ensure the execution of Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives meet regulatory, customer and OEM requirements.

  • Interpret the aircraft maintenance manual, engine shop manual, customer requests, and other approved technical data into actions or an actionable digital format (SAP) that can be completed locally and within the bounds of the quality system.

  • Work on a global team to create, regularly review, and improve global routers in SAP/Oasis ERP system.

  • Partner with production and planning teams to coordinate workscopes to effectively complete engine repairs in the shop or at offsite locations throughout the world.

  • Initiate DRs/DICAs and follow through disposition. Engage Product Support Engineering and/or other resources to eliminate fleet issues.

  • Managing escalations across multiple departments include both the internal team and customers to ensure seamless service and workscope execution. In addition to working with the Fleet Management team to escalate workscopes if additional defects/work are found to be necessary.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and tasks. Ensure consistency with engineering policies and procedures, and customer requirements.

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.

  • Participate in problem-solving process to reach a technical solution.

  • Understand appropriate Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Engine Shop Manual procedures.

  • Participation on a cross functional team as part of Kaizen type events

  • Consult with the global SAP/OASIS teams to ensure the smooth operation of the ERP system.

  • Resolve technical questions from the shop regarding the engine, workscope, tooling, consumables, configuration, and capability.

  • Be willing to speak up even if their opinion goes against the current practice.

  • Work to determine/recommend alternate solutions when faced with a challenge.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Relevant Engineering Degree.

  • Previous experience and knowledge of Aircraft Engine Maintenance.

Desired Skills / Experience:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving ability are necessary.

  • Possess a desire to learn and grow with advances in technology.

  • Technical knowledge of both large and small commercial engines including workscope evaluation is an advantage.

  • Experience and familiarity with LEAN principles in the working environment

  • Proven organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities at one time and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience collaborating with a global team.
