- Experience with Avionics, Connectivity or SATCOM systems

- Experience with aircraft interiors, complex commodities, and suppliers across the design life cycle from initial concept into sustainment preferred.

- Experience developing and maintaining MS Project schedules with resource loading preferred.

- Demonstrated experience in skills on leading projects and communicating effectively.

- Experience dealing with suppliers, senior leadership and a diverse team of contributors


Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience. 13 years engineering experience with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 years for Masters and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job. 3 years prior project management experience.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for development and certification of Advanced Aircraft projects. Creates and manages product plans that support the project milestones leading to certification and entry into service. In a supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates and directs a cross-functional team of engineers

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Creates developmental plans for major aircraft programs or components. Has input for facilities, personnel, and funds required. for carrying out project.
  2. Establishes project work scope, task descriptions, budget estimates and manpower requirements including master scheduling that meets corporate objectives and commitments.
  3. Determines practicality of the overall project in regard to function suitability, availability of manpower, equipment and materials, resources, cost and producibility.
  4. Anticipates problems with assigned projects (technical, budgets, schedules) designs and takes appropriate action to prevent their occurrence.
  5. Assigns tasks to functional group personnel and provides the necessary supervision to meet schedules and fulfill requirements.
  6. Keeps management informed of project accomplishments and major problem areas as well as budget and schedule status.
  7. Provides project management between engineering functional areas and all related activities including program management, other departments, vendors, consultants, and customers. .
  8. Maintains a current knowledge of technical developments that are relevant to the industry.
  9. Approves project related engineering data to assure compliance with corporate policies and FAA/ military requirements as required.
  10. Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements.

Other Requirements:

  1. Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and team building skills.
  2. Has accountability for technical decisions pertaining to the configuration of the aircraft for the project assignment. This includes as a minimum, design, analysis, supplier integration, development, testing, and certification.
  3. Must interface with other PEs as well as engineering management to ensure systems are compatible and designed with common goals.
  4. Must provide leadership to direct staff to ensure proper methodology and decisions making criteria are being utilized.
  5. Must express judgment and foresight to recognize when decision should be elevated to senior management.
  6. Must be able to clearly and concisely present technical and team status to program and senior management leadership.
  7. Must be able to organize and facilitate technical supplier coordination meetings.
  8. Must be able to prepare status reports that accurately reflect the status of the team initiatives.
  9. Develops strategic and tactical budgets covering manpower, fixed assets, and nonsalary and direct travel for projects. Monitors and controls expenditures. Estimates and obtains resources and indentifies cost-reduction opportunities.
