The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems Division has an exciting opportunity on the United States Air Force (USAF) E-7A Program for a Lead or Senior Project Engineer, Product Security Engineering (Level 4 or 5) to join our team in Seattle, WA. Our group works closely with the program managers, contracts, estimating, supply chain, engineering, suppliers, and/or customers to execute the program.

Position Overview:

The Project Engineer, Product Security Engineering will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity projects. This is a growth role, with the expectation that broad skills and experience gained here would be applicable to a variety of other current and future contracts. As a member of our team, you will lead a team of product security engineers developing innovative solutions to field the next generation of AEW&C aircraft across multiple business units. This position will plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the resources required through metrics, work tracking tools, and in collaboration with engineering teams over the life of the project. This role will serve as an excellent opportunity to provide technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and execution of the project and team plans.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage deliverables by defining plans for risk mitigation, issues, and opportunities; and monitor baseline plans to assess project performance, productivity, and lessons.

  • Brief customers and leadership on program status; risks, issues, and opportunities; and help needed.

  • Support development of statement of work (SOW) and/or supplier statement of work (SSOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements.

  • Review changes to SOW and/or SSOW and assesses the impact of those changes.

  • Drive and maintain quality standards for tracking work in tools such as Jira.

  • Maintain record of performance metrics.

  • Support technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and execution of the project or team plan.

  • Plan, identify, prioritize, and coordinate resources required over the life of the program that require coordination with multiple scrum teams, external resources, and customers.

  • Track progress to cost, schedule, and technical performance using Boeing Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) and Earned Value Management (EVM).

  • Participate in Program Increment (PI) planning.

  • Define releases and program increments.

  • Drive system demos and PI demos.

  • Facilitate resolution of technical issues through coordination with engineering and the Chief Engineer.

  • Evolve agile processes and activities to improve team performance.

Work Authorization:

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • 3 years or more of experience supporting engineering projects or programs.

  • Availability to travel up to 10 of your time.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10 years or more of work related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 years or more of experience in an Agile Lead Role: Product Manager or Product Owner.

  • 3 years or more of experience with Product Management: schedule and cost management.

  • Experience in security, systems, or software engineering, experience with development proposals and programs.

  • Familiarity with agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and present to internal and customer teams and leaders.

  • Ability to collaborate with team members and develop execution plans for deliverables.

  • Experience collaborating and integrating various functional groups such as manufacturing, engineering, and supplier management.

  • Experience with metric visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).

Work Type:

This is a hybrid position (A portion of work will be required to be perform some work onsite at the listed location options).

Typical Education & Experience:

Lead (Level 4):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 5):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. (Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.).

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Typical summary pay range (Level 4): $122,400 - $165,600.

Typical summary pay range (Level 5): $150,450 - $203,550.
