Job Description SummaryIn the Propulsion Operability Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the Aerothermal systems design team supporting both GEs next generation of military engine architectures and currently fielded products. This role focuses on assessing and predicting engine stability and operational capability across all flight regimes.

Roles and Responsibilities

In the role of Propulsion Operability Engineer, you will develop analytical predictions of engine stability limits, as well as confirm such predictions through dedicated systems testing and validation.

Additionally your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing engine test plans to verify safe engine operation limits.

  • Monitoring component and systems level tests to ensure the safety of the test vehicle.

  • Analyzing inlet distortion and developing hardware to simulate the impact on engine operation.

  • Coordinating with a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (aero, performance, systems).

  • Executing the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements.

  • Ensuring proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Providing timely communications on significant issues or developments.

  • Participating in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks.

  • Participating as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or College.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in systems engineering.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Current secret clearance desired. Ability to obtain secret clearance required.

  • Able to work both in a team and individually.
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 5-8 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position
  • Experience with aircraft engine testing.
  • Experience engine cycle performance, or component aero design.
  • Experience with NPSS, python or similar programming languages.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to guide and influence others.
  • Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work.
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Systems thinking.
  • Current Secret US security clearance.
