ABOUT THE ROLE

The R&D Analytical Engineer Scientist I - Chemist will join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our research and development efforts, with a specific focus on gas chromatography (GC), mass spectrometry (MS), and physical property testing (viscosity, flashpoint, smoke point).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct routine and specialized chemical analyses using GC and GC-MS techniques. 
  • Develop and optimize analytical methods for the identification and quantification of compounds. 
  • Perform sample preparation, extraction, and data analysis. 
  • Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments, including GC, and GC-MS systems. 
  • Conduct routine physical property testing such as viscosity measurements, flashpoint, and smoke point.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support research projects. 
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and observations accurately. 
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in chromatography and mass spectrometry. 

MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with GC and/or physical property testing

  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols. 
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Knowledge of UOP materials and processes and associated analytical methods.
