Roles and Responsibilities
Design, plan, and execute research projects related to aerospace materials, processes and systems, including hydrocarbons and oxidative pathways, reaction kinetics, heat and mass transport, thermodynamics and fluidics - simulations, fuel flow systems, pressure and temperature systems, reactors and test rigs
Develop and optimize test methods & processes for aerospace components, including materials and chemicals processes, process parameters, performance testing, process variation analysis and control. Enhance Performance, durability and reliability through field simulated processes and test systems.
Collaborate with other scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop and test new methods, processes, systems and repair technologies
Present research findings to internal teams, business stakeholders, scientific conferences and meetings
Develop intellectual property through invention disclosures and patent applications
Network across GE Aerospace to understand critical business problems that require materials and chemicals processes, testing, hydrocarbon and fuel system based solutions; build redressal plans and execute
Ensure laboratory safety through meticulous adherence to protocols, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and fostering a secure environment for research activities
Lead and/or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and process continuous improvement (LEAN) efforts to provide standard work.
Required Qualifications
M.Sc/M.Tech/MS with 3+ years of experience or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related fields
Experience conducting hands-on research and development in materials and chemicals process technologies, especially hydrocarbons and oxidative pathways, reaction kinetics, heat and mass transport, thermodynamics and fluidics - simulations, fuel flow systems, pressure and temperature systems, reactors and test rigs. Experience with materials and chemicals processes, testing and characterization methods, process parameters, performance testing, process variation control
Strong understanding of chemical technologies, hydrocarbons and fuel systems
Strong record of scientific publications and conference presentations
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability to lead research projects
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
Good teaming skills and ability to work with wide range of technical teams and projects.
Desired Characteristics
Additional experience in experimental research in the field of aerospace materials and chemical technologies, processes and systems, testing and characterization methods will be an added benefit
Experience in Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering
Knowledge of hydrocarbons and oxidative pathways, reaction kinetics, heat and mass transport, thermodynamics and fluidics - simulations, fuel flow systems, pressure systems, reactors and test rigs.
Knowledge of test methods, characterization techniques (GC-MS, UV-visible and FTIR spectroscopy, Thermal analysis) and ASTM standards related to hydrocarbon and fuel systems
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
