Summary:
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Engineer, Project Engineering will be focused on designing and planning of layout for assembly and materials handling. The Senior Engineer, Project Engineering will support the production deliveries and implementation of process improvements in the powdered metal making process.
Key Responsibilities:
Adaptation of machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions to produce super alloy metal powders; planning of sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product powder cleanliness & equipment design improvements
Support suppliers with manufacturing methods and processes necessary for the fabrication and assembly of internally designed equipment; investigating and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment problems
Providing input on plant layout, capital equipment and suppliers capability; providing input for process improvement, cost reduction and automation; independently run capital projects ranging from life extension programs on current equipment to new design and build projects for upcoming equipment
Design and detail custom equipment and machinery for use in powdered metal production
Maintaining and driving continuous improvements to manufacturing standard work, ensuring alignment with internal customer requirements and systemic audit findings
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and 5 or more years experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations, program/project or quality environment or a Masters degree and 3 or more years experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations, program/project or quality environment required
Welding knowledge and structural fabrication and design experience
Familiarity with the production of powder metal manufacturing with knowledge of welding applications
Proficiency in AutoCad, Proficiency in SolidWorks, experience with creating and modifying 2D and 3D models and drawings
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
2 or more years of manufacturing and/or machine design experience
