Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking an ambitious Materials and Process Engineer to join our creative team of engineers within our Engineering Dept. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative and ingenious solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry.

This exciting opportunity will include the following roles and responsibilities: Analyze, research, and develop materials and surface treatments with their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering of and/or application in structures, systems, and subsystems on a major production program. This is senior level role where the candidate will be able to apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic, and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication, and assembly processes. The candidate will learn to develop, analyze and apply material properties and allowables, processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
The candidate will provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, analysis data to program and customer personnel at technical interchange meetings, and reviews. Tasks also include coordination with product , interface development, coordination with other analysis group engineers, Global Supply Chain, Production Operations, and other departments.

The M&P engineer will be engaged in part/component failure analyses that threaten production line stoppage and hence requires expedited and focused evaluations. The engineer will also be involved in development and release of engineering drawings and documents while using Windchill. The position requires strong technical skills in a fast-paced environment.
Basic Qualifications:
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
- Candidate MUST have the ability to travel and be willing to work off-sight as needed for assignments.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (preferably in Material Science or Materials Engineering), or equivalent experience/combined education
Desired Skills:
Active Department of Defense SECRET clearance.
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering/Science
- Familiarity with components and subassemblies
- Familiarity with evaluating and developing material and specifications
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, 2-D drawings, CAD drawings and material callouts and/or material processing note
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with programs at MFC
- Familiarity and a strong background in material manufacturing processes, material testing processes and procedures, and material specifications based on needs
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating M&P support documentation, material plans, material and process reports, and potential proposals are necessary
- Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment
- Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
