Job Description SummaryThe VCPLab Senior Staff Engineer/Technologist demonstrates accountability for functional and business objectives addressing product cost-out and producibility opportunities in all phases of the products life cycle. This position will define and lead activities across Engineering and Sourcing organizations to identify, develop, and integrate new cost strategies, design changes, and supply chain process improvements to meet business cost and productivity objectives.

Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading activities with Sourcing and Engineering to generate and execute Product Cost projects. Conducts business level trades, influences design and Sourcing decisions to optimize product cost within broader business constraints.
  • Effectively communicate project status and needs with Business leaders to ensure completion. Utilizes in-depth technical knowledge and analytical thinking to deliver value. Ensure high levels of accountability and operational excellence within the team. Actively works across organizations to identify and collaborate on Cost activities.
  • Provides Cost & Producibility technical guidance to Engineering, Sourcing, and Project partners including cost pipeline generation strategy and execution. Contributes lessons learned to GE Aerospace standards and policies for Cost & Producibility. Contributes to cost analysis tool/method capability development and standards.
  • Uses Lean problem solving as a primary tool to solve business problems. Lead/participate in Kaizens/AWOs for Cost & Producibility.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within a field.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Established project management and/or team leadership experience
  • Strong interpersonal and horizontal leadership skills in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and dynamic planning in open-ended problems
  • At least 8 years of experience in a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or Manufacturing Position

Desired Characteristics

  • 8 years of experience in a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or Manufacturing Position
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active coaching and mentorship of less experienced team members
  • Bias toward action and self-driven
  • Ability to travel quarterly
