Job Summary
Join our Menomonee Falls, WI team as a Senior Systems Engineer. This position offers an opportunity to develop some of the worlds most highly power dense solutions, the ability to work on unique applications, the ability to provide technical oversight and guidance, and the opportunity to mentor and coach upcoming engineers. These designs include power converters, motor drives, uninterruptible power supplies, and power distribution systems ranging from several horsepower to multi-megawatts. Responsibilities include performing associated systems engineering analyses, developing and managing related system requirements and specifications, working with a program team to disseminate and guide the design and architecture, and creating related design documentation.
What You Will Do
- Analyze and apply customer and military specifications to ensure product and project compliance, utilizing a requirements traceability matrix (RTM) to drive design efforts
- Conceptualize the architecture of complex systems, subsystems or assemblies including interface requirements between system and subsystems.
- Apply systems engineering methods to design products effectively and efficiently from a component up to the system level.
- Complete activities on time and budget.
- Support testing of products, systems, or subsystems.
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required.
- Participate heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals, i.e., creating the conceptual designs, technical documentation, and budget estimates.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience
- Proficient in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools including proficiency in languages like SysML or UML, as well as specific tools like Cameo or MathWorks System Composer.
- Ability to develop model-based architectural models, system models, or process models and interpret and analyze model-based simulation results.
- Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance; familiarity with the systems engineering V-model or other relevant lifecycle models.
- Proficiency using DOORs for requirements management.
- Proficiency in performing system engineering analyses, i.e. risk analysis, safety analysis, FMEA, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to aid interactions within Engineering, other internal departments and external customers.
- Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
