Work on a critical knowledge sharing tool for the customer with real world applications.  The tool that the team works on is high-visibility and enables collaboration across multiple partners as it is used in the day-to-day mission, throughout the customer and across the broader Intelligence Community (IC). Your work will enable data to be updated and shared in real-time and will help drive more informed and timely decisions in matters of national security. 

Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) is looking for a talented Service Life Extension Reliability Engineer to support the Ground-based Midcourse Defense System Stockpile Reliability Program.   

The successful candidate is a self-starter with the ability to plan, design, develop, and verify a balanced life-cycle system solution is achieved.

 They will be able to perform, lead, and develop teammates, design teams, and sub-tier suppliers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Influences design characteristics in a collaborative environment and assists with the evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements. Clearly conveys information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
  • Takes prompt action to accomplish objectives; takes action to achieve goals beyond what is required; is proactive.
  • Develops R&M predictions, tracks performance and supports reliability assessments.
  • Interfaces with the customer and management at major design review meetings and technical interface meetings to provide findings and recommendations.
  • Identifies data gaps requiring additional testing, modeling and analysis. Identifies and prioritizes reliability risk drivers requiring resolution/mitigation.
  • Develops service life extension test plans, supports test execution and prepares test reports.   
  • Observes tests at various suppliers and field locations to evaluate factors and provides leadership during corrective action investigations.
  • Monitors failure data generated by product users to assess performance in the field and develop strategies for product improvement.
  • Applies risk assessment methodologies (e.g., hazard seventy, probability or likelihood of occurrence), and tools (e.g. fault tree analysis, failure mode and effects analysis, software safety analysis.)
  • Updates existing Probabilistic Reliability Assessment (PRA) model with emerging flight test data, stockpile reliability program data, ground test data, risks and failure modes, under guidance of lead Systems Engineer.
  • Assists in development and delivery of future phases of the Probabilistic Reliability Assessment (PRA) reliability model.
  • Provides inputs to proposals for submittals to customers. Review subcontractors proposals for reliability program and submits evaluation for decision.
  • Acts as a mentor to develop technical skills of fellow teammates.

The selected engineering candidate may also be tasked with performing critical analyses in one or more areas of Systems Engineering such as systems safety, human systems engineering, affordability, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, regulatory, certification, and/or other engineering areas that drive a preferred configuration and ensure mission success.

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:  

 

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited institution
  • Masters degree with course work in statistics
  • Military experience, while not required is desirable
  • DoD Space and Missile Programs or NASA Programs experience
  • Experience with Reliability/Service Life Extension/Stockpile Reliability Programs

 

 

Telework Availability: None

 

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. ( An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start is required.)

 

This position requires clearing a background check and an enhanced Personal Conflict of Interest (PCI) requirements as a condition for employment.

 

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

$81,000 - $155,000
