Job Description SummaryThe Control Systems Engineer will report to the Control Systems Manager within the GE Evendale Advanced Technologies Organization. The engineer will be responsible for the development and validation of flight critical subsystems that enable the safe operation of ground and flight test technology demonstrator vehicles. The maturation of these technologies is central to the realization of aviation industry sustainability goals in the first half of the 21st century.

Successful entry-level and early career GE control systems engineers possess a diversity of educational backgrounds including, but not limited to: electrical, aerospace, mechanical, software, systems, and controls engineering.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Control Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Participate in all facets of the systems engineering process – system architecture, systems engineering, and project management
  • Define and formalize system, hardware, software, and human integration requirements
  • Define and execute engineering lifecycle test, validation, and verification activities
  • Apply GE best practices and design standards to control system software designs
  • Model systems to a level of fidelity and degree of accuracy consistent with the model’s intended usage
  • Validate and verify hardware/software designs in a diversity of system integration environments – from local desktop computer simulations to fully representative flight tests
  • Present designs and validation results to internal (GE) and external (customer, agency, government, …) customers
  • Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment

Qualifications/Requirements

  • U.S. Person (Citizen, Permanent Resident, Green Card Holder, ...)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering at accredited college or university
  • 1-2 years minimum experience in an engineering environment

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters Degree at an accredited college or university
  • Highly-motivated, self-starting, and passionate
  • Exceptional communication skills and willingness to continually improve communication and influencing skills in more-distributed work environments
  • Experience modelling system behavior in Simulink, NPSS, or other programming languages
  • Coding experience in MATLAB, python, C/C++, SCADE, VBA, etc.
  • Control system design experience
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience formally representing cyber-physical Systems in SysML, Modelica, UML
  • Demonstrated team leadership, collaboration, and facilitation skills
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
  • Project planning and project management experience
  • Keen listener and innate drive to succeed

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
