Summary

We work on creating cutting edge cloud software to support the Department of Defense. Our software teams work in an agile collaborative environment where each scrum team is composed of 5 to 10 developers. Our software architecture is based on micro services which heavily utilizes Docker. We have multiple projects that either focus on creating synthetic environments, training, or mission planning and awareness.

This position will focus on synthetic environment development that will leverage the latest gaming technology, Unreal Engine 5, to introduce innovative capabilities into simulation products. As a game developer, you will bring your game industry experience to develop the next generation high-fidelity visual system and synthetic environment for flight simulators. The ideal candidate is passionate about working in technology and games.

We use different technologies/programming languages due to our micro service architecture, because of this we look for candidates that have a strong desire to keep learning and advancing their skills. In order to support this continuous learning, we provide a number of resources to foster this as well as providing the training time.

This position will require the candidate to apply for a Secret security clearance and will be located in either Orlando Florida, Tampa Florida, or Arlington Texas with a hybrid work from home schedule. Relocation assistance can be provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, architect and analyze solutions to deliver CAEu2019s visual system based on Unreal Engine
  • Strong coder with demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following: C++, C, JavaScript, Java on Windows, Linux and apply these technologies to the AR, VR, gaming, and mobile computing domains.
  • Implementing, debugging and optimizing training applications and products using Unreal Engine with Blueprints and C++.
  • Must be eligible for Secret DoD Personal Security Clearance
  • Passion to develop cutting edge software to solve complex problems for the Department of Defense
  • Desire to develop innovative software for various R&D projects
  • Responsible for software planning, design, execution, and deployment of new features
  • Must be able to collaborate and perform effectively as part of a project "team"

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bacheloru2019s or Masteru2019s degree in engineering, software, or computer science.
  • Minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience or a Masteru2019s degree in engineering or computer science with 6 years of software engineering experience
  • Experience with converting UE blueprints to C++
  • Experience with Unreal Engine Developer
  • Strong skills in building, debugging, and supporting complex solutions in Unreal Engine 4/5

Preferred Skills

These following skills will be used in this position based on the task. These are nice to have skills and the candidate will have training opportunities to gain these capabilities if needed.

  • Possess a thorough understanding of real-time rendering workflows, as well as a strong understanding of Python and C++. Experience with developing UE plugins.
  • Experience in AR/VR and optimizing UE Solutions for performance in VR.
  • Experience with multi-player game and VR experiences developing using UE.
  • Experience with Unreal build process and packaging.
  • Exposure and/or experience with Graph Database technologies
  • Experience with system architectures/infrastructure and inter-process communications (e.g. Web Socket, UDP, DDS u2026 etc.)
  • Experience with container runtime environments such as Docker and container-orchestration systems such as Kubernetes
  • Deploying software to cloud platforms using containerized software modules in DevSecOps pipelines
