HoneywellBuildings Technologies (HBT) is looking for a talented Sr. Advanced SystemsEngineer- Firmware who can own and drive product development usingembedded platform, take key architectural decisions and tradeoffs and back themup with a clear rationale. In this role, the Systems Engineer-Firmware will see the big picture and build architectural approaches forproduct design and implementation to guide the development team and collaboratewith business teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratingwith other professionals to resolve functional and non-functional requirementsfor new systems or solutions
  • Use toolsand methodologies to build representations for functions and user interface ofdesired product
  • Develophigh-level product specifications with attention to system integration andfeasibility
  • Defineall aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to codingstandards
  • Deliveracross the entire system life cycle concept, design, build, deploy, test andrelease
  • Workdirectly with developers, testers, and product managers to conceptualize,build, test and realize products
  • Ensureproduct meets all non-functional requirements of quality, security,reliability, scalability, performance, etc.
  • Keep upto date on the latest industry trends in building automation technologies
  • Effectivelycommunicate all concepts and guidelines to development team, stakeholders andnon-technical audiences
  • Lead allaspects of development team to ensure consistency with initial design
  • Providetechnical mentorship and coaching to developers and engineers
  • Developproducts and solution for Healthy Building Initiative, to improve air qualityand space health

 


  • YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelors Degree in electronics or electronics and instrumentation or computer science
  • 6+ years of professional experience in software/firmware development or system engineering in a multi-disciplinary system that includes firmware, software and communication protocols (wired or wireless)
  • 5+ years of hands-on coding experience in C/C++ language for firmware development involving embedded systems

WE VALUE

  • Strong knowledge of software/firmware design and architecture and designing for quality attributes requirements of the system
  • Knowledge of cyber security and developing secure products

  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Strong sense of ownership and drive; someone who is self-motivated and can work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done

  • Experience with wireless protocols like Wifi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, etc

  • Experience dealing with product and system performance requirements

  • Experience with industrial standard communication protocols like BACnet, Modbus etc
  • Embedded software development experience and coding in various embedded programming languages like C, C++

  • Experience working with ARM microcontroller and RTOS like FreeRTOS

  • Domain knowledge of Building Management Systems, HVAC systems, sensors, thermostats, wall modules, lighting systems etc
  • Understanding of hardware design principles

  • Agile, scaled Agile or Scrum experience
